Further to messages from donr, jerryG and IAN MC re tooth extraction, hubby has had hospital consultation re having 3 teeth removed and surprised that they have not told him to stop his warfarin before the procedure.his inr is usually 2.7 and I can't believe that in USA they like your inr around 1 when they remove teeth.the dentist today said as long as it is under 4 they are ok with it.they will test inr at hospital on morning before having teeth out and give him instructions when he goes home if any problems.he has to wait 8 weeks-I can't fault our national health service for all the care he has received but bit of a long wait.

Sylvia: Having said that my dentist wanted my INR at 1.0 for an extraction, I'm surprised that no one took me to task for that statement if others had a different situation.
Not only did he require that I be at 1.0, he required that I have an INR when the hosp opened at 7:30 for him to do the extraction at 8:30 so he could be sure that it was safe.
Maybe he was a cowardly dentist?
That's the only extraction I've had since getting my PM.
