Hey guys just home from hospital having had a dual chamber pacemaker fitted. Not going to lie not the best experience. .... local anaesthetic doesn't work on me so had to have three times normal amount of morphine and it took them a very long time to find any veins that wanted to play to thread my leads through. Hospital staff lovely and as im a pussy with hospitals they let my other half stay the night with me.....good job really coz very poorly from all the morphine. At home now feeling very sore and walking like an old lady lol...slight breathlessness but hoping that will go.... things can only get better from now on??? Hopefully ? ;) lol xxxxx

You laugh a lot.
Good for you. Keep on laughing.
You have quite a strength.
That's awesome. I admire you.
I wish you a quick recovery.

sling

I only used the sling when the pain went, after about 2 weeks. This was only to remind me not to lift my arm above my shoulder, as with no pain, it is surprising how often I would automatically go to lift it. Such as doing my hair, reaching to get something out of a cupboard etc.
Otherwise it is not necessary medically. My soreness went after 2 weeks, so just give it time. You probably need more time to get over that awful morphine than anything else.

Glad things went fairly well

Ice is good on the site to keep swelling down. As far as the sling, that's a huge debate on this site. For me I used it for about 4 nights, since I tend to throw my arms above my head during sleep. Then it went in the closet.
Give yourself time to heal. Keep moving slowly, listen to your body as I'm sure it will tell you if you over do it. Getting back to your normal routine as soon as possible is a great thing.
Remember to get a copy of your interrogation report when they do your PM check.
Take care and let us know how it's going
