communication

Really worrying for you. I can understand why they do not want to talk over the phone. Some things are better done face to face so they can see your understanding.
I think that sometimes communication can be a real problem in the NHS. If only they could get this right in every part of the country.
Hope that your new employer is supportive.
Best wishes for Thursday.
Thinking of you

Hi. Just to say I am thinking of you. I work for the NHS (UK) & I know that Dr's don't always like to discuss things over the phone & prefer to see patients face to face. But I'm also a NHS patient (with my pacemaker & heart) & I know when I'm the patient it can be very difficult, confusing & scary....even though I've worked in the NHS for 33 years! So I totally understand how confused & scared you must be feeling. If you can, try & make a list of questions you would like to ask your Dr's when you see them...hopefully they will explain everything fully when you see them. Will you see them before Thursday? If not, thankfully Thursday is not too far away...although I know it must feel like ages away right now.
Also, thinking of you starting your new job tomorrow. Hope all goes well.
Very best wishes to you
Janey

Think positive

Two bits of good news from what you tell us. First is that though your dr is not the best communicator he/she is working in your best interests by moving your appointment forward, shows he/she cares enough about your condition if not your mind.
Second - I think you will find from UK members on this forum that generally the NHS has been very good in taking care of us. We are fortunate in not having to worry about the cost like our USA friends, just in getting well.
Best of luck for Thursday
John

That the Doctor won't speak to you over the phone. Does he want to see you in person then?
You may want to seek a 2nd opinion, someone who will treat you as a person.
I'm just guessing but you may need a CRT as opposed to a "normal" pacemaker. Some come with a defibrillator, which is what I have. It depends on your condition and why you need one. You need to be able to talk to your Doctor for some answers. If they're leaving you in the dark......find another Doctor.
It will be ok, you will get the device you need but getting a little respect would be nice too.
Good luck and keep us posted.
