Hello UK-Worrier

Hi Nellie I'm a UK Non-worrier ! It sounds as though things are happening very quickly which is good news for you ; it seems that the loop-recorder did its job !

When you say you have no idea what's wrong with you; you do really; you have told us that you have been blacking out for years.

There are many causes of blacking out but if your Dr thinks that you need a PM; AND QUICKLY; then the cause of your fainting must be bradycardia, your heart rate is suddenly dropping and this could kill you !!

The PM should take care of the bradycardia and you should have no more fainting; good news eh !

Best of luck and don't worry !!!!!

heart stop?

by Tracey_E - 2014-01-14 02:01:24

If they suspected your heart is stopping, it sounds like the tests confirmed it and now they are fixing it. I'm sure it all sounds fast and scary but it's the answer to your problems. If you have questions about the surgery, please ask.

thanks tat man x

I dont really know my cardiac history. .. ive been passing out for about ten years now. Had a positive tilt test done but only passed out when I got the gtn spray? But they werent concerned. I had 24 hr monitor which caught nothing and a three day which caught nothing. Left it a couple of years but still passing out so consultant implanted a recorder in april 13 and its just caught one of my faints where my heart stopped for 15 secs? I don't know anything else as they haven't told me anything. It was at my 6th monthly check up on my monitor that they spotted the problem. ...sent me on my way and said id get a letter to see consultant...had no letter rang up today....they then rang me back today saying gotta go in for pacemaker we will send ur op date out to you..... no explanation hence the panic lol xxxx

.........I'm sorry to hear of your problem with getting information. This is ,in my experience, unusual for the UK. I think the only thing you can do is persist with your calls to the consultants secretary.

The significant clue that you give is that you already have an device fitted and that have had a faint.....so..

Why did you have the device fitted ?....what Cardiac History do you have ?...how often have you fainted ?

If you have been 'booked in' for a PM, do you have a date ?

I think that being scared and shocked at this point is totally understandable..I'm sure that I would be too, and its all the more important that you get the answers that you need.

Maybe a bit more about you cardiac history might give the members here at PM Club a little more to work on.

My very best wishes, and do keep PMC up to date with any news.

not handled well

by Tracey_E - 2014-01-14 03:01:14

They are not handling this well at all! It would be nice if they had a discussion with you and let you know what to expect, sheesh. However, know that 15 second pauses are very much a legitimate reason to get a pm and could easily be why you are passing out. Anything over a few seconds is dangerous.

..................thank you for getting back to PMC....

I am, and may well be not alone to be baffled...

I don't really know my cardiac history...been passing out for about ten years now..had a positive tilt test...heart stopped for 15 secs..have a monitor..no explanation...

Crikey, Nellie....you know more about your cardiac history than I do about mine. I just fell down a bit too much and found myself smashing up the A46 to Leicester with the blue lights flashing with no more previous advice than..." Tat Man..you are going to get a PM..as in, NOW "...

So..

IAN MC has a very good point..you are a pretty lucky person, and living in a place where you can get such immediate attention...when it is needed..unlike so many in this great big world.

But this comes back to your first concern ..you are "Scared and Shocked"...its not for me to comment on your feelings..heaven knows I am very emotionally driven.

But..

It may be worth you looking at the last ten years of medical attention when, .just maybe,.advice, as in, clues, were given to you..

As someone who can stick his fingers in his ears and go...LA LA LA LA..........I can understand.

Its going to be ok
