Dental visit

Hello All,
I am almost a year with pacer, it has been a good year overall. Went to dentist yesterday, had normal numbing shot and within 5 minutes (for the first time ever) had a "reaction". My innards felt like they were tumbling and index finger and thumb on left hand had tremors. Almost started to cry it was upsetting.
This lasted for about 10 minutes, dentist did not work on me for another 10 minutes.
Dentist said epinephrine is in numbing agent. Anyone else have this type of reaction? Thought it was my diaphram tossing about. Did call MD office, haven't heard back yet.
Thanks for any input and Best Wishes to All.
Nita

adrenaline?

Hi,
I've been going to the same dentist for years. I told him after I had a PM 18 months ago & he said he'd change anaesthetics to one without adrenaline (I believe epinephrine is adrenaline). The only downside he said was the numbing doesn't last as long. So far no reactions.

Also, had you eaten fairly recently? Assuming you were laying down it may have been your diaphragm. I also have gastric reflux & cannot lay down within 2 hours of eating, if I do, I get the same symptoms you describe, they go away if I stand & walk about. I have learned to modify my diet.

It is the epinephrine which could cause the heart to race. Usually not a problem and passes as you noted in a few minutes. A-fib another story. Epi not indicated.
