For Women Only

I had a pacemaker implanted December 19, 2013 and now I have a question for you women. Where do you get bras with straps that don't touch or press on your pacemaker? I am a large woman and don't know where to even begin to look.

Thank you ladies for any information you can share.

Once you heal, it shouldn't hurt to have the strap touch. Have you tried athletic bras? Super soft, come in varying degrees of support. A few of them make ones that hook/zip in the front rather than pull over your head. There is no one magic style that's best because we're all shaped differently and surgeons put the pm in differently. There are specialty shops that do prosthetics, or most better department stores do professional fittings. One of them may have a suggestion.

I use sports bras. They are comfortable & chip. I like the Genie Bra which has cups that you can put in for lift.
Walmart $18-19 dollars

Is what I like, they have several super size. Go into a better dept. store (macys) get fitted and try on different types till you find one you like, if you decide to buy 2 try each one on as they might fit differently. At first I got a small peice of foam rubber and put it under the strap, worked well.

Go to a bra specialty store. There bras are properly designed and fit you in a way that won't interfere. I wear a 32H of all things. But, with the better fit even those deep indentations on my shoulders have gone...amazing worth the cost. Plus, I found some bras my size on eBay (from UK and a bit cheaper). Depends on your budget, of course, but, it was worth the cost to me!

Excellent question! I am 6 weeks out from having my PM put in. I'm still having complications, so I haven't gone bra shopping yet.
In. The meantime, my daughter got me a bra at Target. You can wear it with or without straps. It's like a sports bra, I wear it with just one strap, as I can't wear anything over my pm 'pocket' yet. The straps are not removal, but wearing only one strap is comfortable.
Good luck, and thanks for asking a question I will need info on too!

I have the same question as Kaysmitt. What bras have the higher top . I looked at the playtex 18 hr but would like one with more cotton in it . I found a nursing bra with no hooks that i can wear 4 or 5 hours before it starts hurting. I want to get back to wearing normal clothes instead of layering because I cant wear a bra. The sports and nursing bras don't give enough support.
