Well, it's almost two weeks post-op for my pm and I am feeling really well. I had my steri strips removed at the doctor's office yesterday and the scar looks good. Those dissolvable stitches really did the trick. I have had no dizziness nor any indication of syncope whatsoever. There is one thing I want to know about though. Does anyone feel a desperate need to cough sometimes? It's just like one cough and is a bit weird. I was wondering if that has anything to do with my heart. I know I'm now contradicting myself but I find it a bit curious. I forgot to mention it yesterday. Thanks.

Yeah, get the cough

I get the cough. It's usually when the pacemaker kicks in because my heart didn't beat on time.
We went out the other night and a combination of the cold air plus my heart deciding it would beat on time caused a coughing fit.
I'm one of those fortunate people who can tell when they are in a-fib so I can feel when the PM kicks in. That's when I usually get a cough too.
Prior to all the PM's, stents, and other amazing heart medical equipment we had a great-aunt who had a constant light cough. Doctors called it a "heart cough" at the time. i.e. a cough caused by an irregular heartbeat.
Since I had a broken rib and chest tube on one side and the PM on the other I'm not breathing as well as I should. I'm due to see my doctor this week and will ask if it's part of the healing process or something about which I should be concerned.
Hope this helps.
