Procedure Name

Does anyone know the name of the procedure for a pacemaker implant using horizontal arteries? Most implant patients have vertical arteries. My implant had to be installed using the horizontal method with special wires, special tools and even special technique...only no one ever told me the name of the procedure. Many thanks

maybe too simplistic

but, perhaps they just entered your venous system through a different vein. They usually go for the subclavian I think. That requires your lead wires to loop up between the ribs and clavicle which can cause the leads to be pinched. All depends on individual anatomy though. Sometimes they enter through axial vein which allows for a smoother "horizontal"? track of leads and less likely (but not impossible). to be pinched.
Just a guess.

Cephalic cutdown?

I've read that a Cephalic cutdown is another approach that is sometimes used for pacemaker implant. It accesses the Cephalic vein. Not sure if this is what you are referring to. Try googling Cephalic cutdown to learn more.

You know you're wired when...

You have rhythm.
