I am moving on to getting the pacemaker and AV Node ablation in 2 weeks. I am 40 and have been fighting a-fib for the last 5 years after aortic valve replacement. Have tried sotaolol, flecanide, tykosyn, and amio going about a month at the longest between cardio conversions. Getting the st. Jude 2 lead pacer. Then a month later doing the av node. Any advice or recommendations? I have read up a lot on this site and appreciate all the good info. Any further info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hope you get along as well as I have. I too had Afib for over 10 years and went through all the Beta Blockers ending with TIKOSYN. Even had surgery in 2007 for the Afib. It worked for a couple of years but came back stronger and more frequently. 2 years ago I had the AV Node ablation and upgraded to a CRT-D. As a bonus, my EF went from the low 30 back to normal 50-60s. I still have the Afib a few times a week but if it doesn't last for several hours, I usually don't notice it.
Hang in there and think positive.

A pacemaker completely solved my problem. In fact, it was implanted just 7 weeks ago and I ran a race today, placed first in my age group.
Ablation

I was in a-fib around 8 times last year and finally in Oct they did the ablation and I did have one more time of that but now all is well! Both the ablation and the CRT-D I had to stay overnight.
