Vibrations in chest

I had my single chamber atrial pacer (st Jude pm1210) placed 3 days ago for bradycardia. I have a decent amount of discomfort , which I believe is normal. My pain is in my armpit, part of my left amd and left sided chest pain. Ice has been my best friend. The pain is not of much concern to me. I do have a weird sensation where my pacemaker is. Occasionally I get a slight vibration almost feels like a cat purring. The episodes are short but have felt them a number of times throughout each day. My question is if anyone else has had this symptom post surgery?

I had my PM implanted in January of this year, and I recall all sorts of ticks, twinges, vibrations, pains, unusual sensations...all very disconcerting... but, as time goes by, I felt these side effects less and less... Ice is indeed your best friend at this point. As long as these are just annoying little incidences, you will be fine. Just give yourself time to heal, keep icing the area, and try to not worry. If you experience any unusualy swelling or leeking/oozing from the implant site, you will need to call your Dr... don't want to develop any infections...
Not much info , but I hope this helps.
Stay positive...

Thanks for your response ! I did call the manufacture to see if this was normal; however, they were unable to give me a definate answer. I will bring it up when I go for my pacer check next week. Good news is I don't have extra pain with these vibration /sensations . I also noticed my heart racing today on 3 occasions. I was walking from my living room to bedroom (same floor) and felt my heart racing, I checked my pulse wich happened to be 123. This happened two other times today with comparable heart rate readings. My hypothesis is my pacemaker might need an adjustment. I will keep everyone posted on my findings. Thanks for everyone's care and concerns

I had my PM implanted 5 days ago and I have noticed the same intermittent 'purring' sensation too! I was originally describing it as a 'clicking' or 'throbbing' but I think you are spot on with 'purring'! I feel the sensation just under my left breast. I ask one of my drs about it, and he said it's likely just my pulse, and because it's so much faster than ever before, I'm just not used to feeling it. Like you, it seems to happen when I move into certain positions. I'm assuming my body will adjust and I won't notice these things after a while.

Yesterday was my first day mountain biking after my implant. I wiped out several times and everything is fine. There are sports after pacemakers!
