New pm

Hello everyone

I recently received PM on 8/9/13 on an emergency. I was so surprised but grateful. I actually fainted in my rheumatologist office and was rushed to hospital. I could not believe what was happening to me but I had those same feelings for years thinking it was my sugar level or perhaps my arthritis or fibromyalgia. I mean I am in my early 40's so I get the comments on young. I have difficulty sleeping, concerned about getting back to work since I patrol drive around for a living, I worry about my personal relationship with spouse but grateful for the messages I read on this site.

Takes a little time

Welcome to the club. I was 38 when I got my first pacemaker. Now I'm 50 and on the second one. Take a deep breath-it gets better. You will be able to resume your activities and get back to work soon. You may be a little uncomfortable driving at first with the seat belt but it will subside. Hopefully, your spouse will be there to support you. And as for any comments that you may get about being so young with a pacemaker, I usually tell people, that there are a lot of young people with pacemakers. It's not a plumbing problem, but an electrical one. That usually makes them laugh, and ask no further questions.

You know you're wired when...

You have a $50,000 chest.

I am just grateful to God that I lived long enough to have my ICD put in. So many people are not as lucky as us; even though we sometimes don't feel lucky.
