Bad Luck ,INFECTION

Bad Luck.
I just posted that after a month I was doing great.I Stacked 5 cord of firewood, been walking 3-miles.Had a great echo too.
Went in today due to some inflamation at the incision. There was a suture that did not dissolve that caused the infection.
The infection has spread and I have to have the month old pacer & leads located on my left removed, the infection cleared up and another pacer placed on my right side .
Doc who implanted the pacer said it was the first time that happened to him.I'm not too happy about being the first in that catagory.
Waiting for a call...
Might be back in the hospital tomorrow.
Really bummed.

Infection!!

Sorry to see you having pacemaker site infection. As I had experience with pacemaker sites erosion & just recently had serious infection in my heart from infection of my 5th implant site & followed the leads.
I know how you feel at this point but you also have some plus factors. Your leads should be a simple removal as they're usually very easy to remove & also finding the infection early gives you a better chance of not having heart wall infection.
I had a much heavier load on my mind as I had my original leads from 1992 still in place & also showed infection in the heart wall. Problem was they could not be removed as an uninformed Plastic surgeon severed the leads at the entry into the vein when he did a complete restoration of my left site. My present EP even considered going into my groin & retrieve the leads from the bottom but also was not feasibile. I could go on but really, going right chest with new leads should be "a piece of cake" as I've had that done.
Presently I'm hosting my 6th pacemaker under muscle in my abdomin right side. Ya, I'm a real pusher doing heavy work & now after only a couple of months I am completely happy with this new site. No pain whatever, this old body doesn't even know there's an implant. So, any questions, Private Message anytime !!

Thanks Don.I'm going in tomorrow and they are going to try to cure the infection with antibiotic I.V. for four days.if it doesn't clear up then they will remove and replace the pacer.
This is a great place, nice people. Thanks to all for your support and sharing your experiences.
I'll be posting back here in about a week.

You know you're wired when...

You play MP3 files on your pacer.
