Still Feeling Different

I'm 54 and had my pacemaker implanted on July 15th 2013 due to third degree heart block. I was wondering if there is anyone else out there who feels/felt different in their core- that's the only way I can describe it, it's as though I swallowed something and its stuck somewhere in the center of me. I asked the dr. if I could be feeling a lead, but he said you don't feel leads. Perhaps the leads moved things a bit or makes me feel some pressure. I'm going to the cardiologist on Friday and will ask him again. I read somewhere that putting the pacemaker on the right side (which is where I had it put in) results in two bends in at least one of the leads which can possibly make it more secure. I'm thinking that these bends may put more pressure on my artery or my heart. Maybe with time this feeling will go away, I'm hoping so.

I felt exactly the same way. Couldn't really describe it for you, but just not "right". It's been about 10 weeks for me since the surgery, and I am finally feeling "right" again. Good luck!

Thank you!

Thanks very much for your words Gil. I'm surprised
no one else has felt this way. Hope I'm fortunate
like you and feel more normal soon.

Feeling different not unusual...

...but you should. After all, YOU'VE BEEN CUT OPEN! You are healing from a nasty cut & a lot of grubbing around inside your body. That will take a while to go away.

Secondly, they left something inside you - intentionally. Fortunately it's your new best buddy - your PM. You can feel it. THAT feeling will take a long time to go away. It's a hard lump, close to the surface. You will feel it for a while, but that, too, will pass.

Unless something is WRONG, you will not feel the leads. Dunno where yu read it, but I just reviewed the drawing of the veins in the upper chest & the two sides are essentially mirror images of one another. Cannot see where any extra bends are necessary on right as opposed to left side. Impolants on both sides wind up w/ leads entering heart through the same BIG vein, the Superior Venacava, so all should be the same inside the heart where the implant sites are.

Your feeling about something different in your core is probably psychological. Nothing wrong w/ that - mentally, you KNOW something happened in there & your mind is sensing it. That feeling should go away, also if you are normal. It hits a lot of people - BUT not everyone. I did not have that occur. Be patient w/ all these goings on - they, too shall pass.

Don

Thank you!

Thank you Don for your words and kindness. I will try to be patient and you are probably right that the feeling will go away.....i'm hoping.

You know you're wired when...

You always have something close to your heart.

It may be the first time we've felt a normal heart rhythm in a long time, so of course it seems too fast and too strong.
