Hi
I had a PM fitted this week so have much information , however there is some conflict of opinion with regards to activities.
Can you tell me of snow skiing should be avoided(seriously hope not ) or OK to continue?
I'm a beginner who stays on blue runs and perhaps if pushed short reds. I fall often, these falls are becoming controlled and are no longer "helicopter" crashes. Hope to hear some positive replays. Steve
Thanks for the feedback! Skiing 2014 seems on the cards

Why should you NOT ski?

Do you pl;an on doing a face plant in the trunk of an oak? It's a long time till ski season will be upon us, so there is plenty of time to get back in shape & for everything to heal before your first encounter w/ the bunnies.
Rog is correct.
As you improve, you can take up greater difficulty slopes.

BPM limits for skiing

I had a PM put in this October, and just went downhill skiing last week (6 weeks later). It felt great.
But prior to that I did a lot of trial exercise, got the upper limit on my PM raised from 130 to 180, and did a stress test. You might want to try out comparable exercise levels prior to skiing, and make sure your heart is paced appropriately for them.

I have had a PM since 1987, and have never had any problems with any sports what so ever.
I live in a country with long winters and ski lovers (Norway)
I have gone skiing, skating, sledges and so on. I have fallen many times. The funny thing about having a PM is that one gets very wary of it and always seem to manage to protect the area from accidents :-)
Enjoy your skiing :-)

I was told when I got mine not to play around or get hit near or on the area. If you fall and roll to the other side you would probably be ok. Just my 2 cents worth
