Swollen around new PM

. Hello from a new member .
Had my first ST Jude PM put in 7 weeks ago . Still quite swollen around site . No temperature , no pain, back to full activities plus walking 2 miles per day , just a gross swollen area . Feels like about ½ inch of fluid . Anyone know how long to swelling goes down . PM is just under the Skin . Docs don’t seem to give out info of what to expect until something weird happens ?? Thanks from Aeon

Hi! Aeon, Welcome! If your medical care is not aware of the swelling, please notify now. A little puffiness is not unusual, but you have described fluid. Is the site seeping?
Great you are.active, but please do notify your doctor of any and all symptoms of concern. Hopeful Heart

Thanks

Hey Hopeful Heart …Appreciate your response .. Maybe you described it better as puffiness . My Wife tells me it is not as bad I think it is . It’s a man thing ( Ha Ha) Actually healed rather quickly . The Doc had me on heavy antibiotics before and after op .. Plus the anti-infection wrap for the PM and a Silver laced outer wrap post op dressing on the incision … just though it look rater big bump for 7 weeks out . I have been a bit sensitive to this medical stuff since I had my Aorta valve replaced 7/31/2012.. Either way I have an appointment this coming Monday with Cardiologist … Thanks again for talking the time to respond to my question ..Always helps …Aeon

If there is fluid please contact your dr. right away. This happened to me with my first PM. Fluid draining after three weeks and turned out to be a staph infection. I hope yours is not staph, but it should be checked. Keep us posted.
