Getting acquainted

Hi all,
I just discovered this group and am really looking forward to reading the posts and getting acquainted. I am going on 63 and have had a PM in since late 2005. I had a terrible time adjusting to it, not so much physically as emotionally, but have, over time, accepted it. It paces my atrium about 20% of the time and ventricles pretty much 100%. I was told last check (in June) that I have anywhere from 1 month to 24 months before battery replacement.... nothing I am looking forward to.
I was originally scheduled to get a recheck late August, but rescheduled for this coming Tuesday, due to the sensation of palpitations and irregular heartbeats, and unstable BP that just started a week ago. I find it an interesting coincidence that these strange symptoms show up so close to battery end of life. I am interested in any thoughts...

Just want to welcome you to this forum. Haven't had my PM long enough to know anything abot AOL, but a lot of folks on here have. So just hang tight and I'm sure there will be comments on here. Good luck Jean.

Thank you :-)

Thank you, Jean... I had my battery check yesterday and, sure enough, it is in its 'reserve mode'. I found it fascinating that she gave me the exact date my symptoms appeared, and I confirmed that was the day I started experiencing the strange sensations of palpitations, pounding heart, shortness of breath, etc... I have an appt with the cardiac surgeon next Tuesday to make arrangements for a new battery.
