I would like to apologise as I have caused offence where I never meant to do so. I understand you are very proud of your club and forum and I think you should be. I will continue to advise my patients to use the resource but I am closing my account.
I am closing my account as of tomorrow to give people time to read my apologies.
Regards

what?
by Alma Annie - 2013-08-05 07:08:23
I think I have missed something here. I am not quite sure what it is that has given offence. I for one am not offended at all and I thank you for all your advice and help.
I may have missed something as I was away interstate (Australia) for 4 weeks and was unable to access PM club. However on my return I can see nothing amiss with your posts.
In my humble opinion you should keep going.

A Sad for the Club
by Nornor - 2013-08-05 08:08:34
I totally agree with Alma Annie's comments. This forum needs informed professional posts as provided by Cardiac Technician. In providing such information the club's knowledge base is enhanced and, in turn, offers members a more diverse range of opinions, thoughts and information.
That Cardiac Technician feels he needs to close his account and withdraw his professional offerings, is a sad day for this club. Yes, as pacemaker/ICD recipients, we have much to offer in supporting each other, but we should, at all times, accept the input of those with professional expertise and experience with an open mind and a clear sense of objectivity. I will continue to seek information relating to my condition and my pacemaker/ICD and, hopefully, will find more people like our former member, Cardiac Technician, who unselfishly offer their time and knowledge to support our needs.
My 2 cents....
by Grateful Heart - 2013-08-05 10:08:09
Not that it's worth much.
Other medical professionals arrive on this site and answer many posts/ questions and continue to pop in from time to time. (Honestly, not as much as we would like).
As far as I have seen, ALL are always welcomed. You do not have to be a PM host as you posted in a previous thread. I welcomed you in a pvt. msg., I believe the first day you arrived here.
Once your blog was up and running, almost every post by you was in connection with promoting your site.
At that point, it appeared you had an ulterior motive and were now steering members to your site.....which was very disappointing and frankly, tiring with every read.
So, as Donr (and others) have suggested , why not buy some advertisement on this site for your blog and answer the members questions or concerns here with your knowledge and expertise out of the goodness of your heart as many others do, instead of what appears to be self-serving.
A suggestion: instead of leaving, you can start fresh here and help the members without constant referrals to your site. We are fully aware it is there now.
The ball is in your court.

I fear we are loosing a great asset in loosing you...We know you are not an MD. We know that not everone knows everything. Your technical skills could be very valuable here and I wish you would reconsider. I too, missed whatever comment may have been made. Bev
Sad to see the infighting
by Grateful Heart - 2013-08-06 01:08:28
We asked Cardiac Technician to stay with us, without the constant advertising to his blog.
May I suggest we just wait for his answer now.
Extra Knowledge
by Grateful Heart - 2013-08-06 01:08:30
I agree, extra knowledge is always welcomed, as I said in my post above.
Hopefully he will stay without the constant promoting to go to his site. I find that very unsettling....feels like a conflict of interest.
He asked for our input in another post so I am responding now.
Like I said, just my 2 cents.
Good luck to you Cardio Tech, I hope you decide to stay....minus the self-promotion.

I agree to a point that most of the people that answer the questions are people that are more involved in the sight but the other aspect is that you see that cardiac tech is being bashed for having a different view and to me its childish and if you don't want to read and promote his blogs then pass by them and don't click. If the so called owner of this site had a problem with him posting these sites then its up to him to take the matter up the cardiac tech. Don't take it the wrong way that I am saying that the same people shouldn't answer as much as they can cause thats what helps this site and I appreciate them for doing that but I see just as many people saying they enjoy the links that he post here and to me I don't understand why members not owners of the site are worried about what he does. In my opinion if he is doing something that he shouldn't be doing then the owners are the ones that should work on the problems not the members because we all do have different opinions and would have dealt with it differently. I honestly think cardiac tech would have been a great benefit to this site and he hasn't even been on here for a month from what I can tell and some people are trying to just push him out forming clicks which is not a good thing for this kind of group. I disagree with you saying that he has not answered anyone's questions cause we don't know if people might have private messaged him and helped people that way I can't speak for him but I myself have private messaged people my opinion rather than posting on the main page. The childish stuff I am talking about is the things like Moner posted and brings up this Blake guy that is suppose to be the owner of this site well all I have to say is then that's the person that should make the decision about if he wants people posting links on his site. I'm really not trying to offend people but to me if someone was really trying to benefit nothing but themselves they would have done it without letting on that they were there to do just that. People can make fake accounts on here and pretend to have a pacemaker and do things to promote sites but cardiac tech was honest about who he was and I just think that if given proper time here without being bashed everyday that he would have been happy to help in any way possible but he wasn't really given that chance. Some people wanted him to post the links to make them easy to find and others didn't and I don't know how it hurts the members if he does and if the owner of the site has a problem with what he is doing then the owner needs to handle it not the members.

Professionals
by golden_snitch - 2013-08-06 02:08:43
I agree with Grateful Heart and Moner.
I welcome any professional who's willing to actively engage in our forum. Unfortunately, it turned out that this is not what you intended to do. You only used this site to promote your own blog. You did not share knowledge by answering any questions here. And you also did not share the information you post in your blog here. What did you expect by joining the pacemakerclub? I mean when you enter this site, it is very obvious that what we do here is post and answer questions. So, you join either when you have some questions yourself or when you feel like you can help others with your knowledge and experience. To promote your own website, there are other ways.
Stay, if you're willing to engage; leave, if all you ever wanted was to direct people to your blog. That's my opinion.
Nornor: There were no professionals posts from CT, only links to his blog. There was no input. There was no extra knowledge he was sharing. Could be that you interpret those links to his blog as "information sharing"; I don't. You're probably new to the forum, but be assured that the knowledge base doesn't suffer, if CT leaves. We did have a great knowledge base here before he joined, and we'll continue to have it when he leaves. I mean, questions get answered, don't they? In fact, I'd go as far as saying that nearly everything that CT explains in his blog, has been explained here before. All you need to do is use the search button.
If you post your link on someone else's website, you list that particular website on your site, too - online manners, give and take! CT removed the pacemakerclub link on his blog, and he also removed the "inspired by pacemakerclub" in two of the questions he answers on his site. That's very self serving. Several of us asked CT to give the club some credit in his blog, and at first he did so, and then he removed the links/reference again while continueing to post links to his blog here. That's presuming.

Time to Cut Bait
by ebfox - 2013-08-06 03:08:26
I just read through CardiacTech's posts, as well as all the comments. I had an idea for a compromise but after reading his posts, I have changed my mind.
I think it's a shame that CT feels the need to post his blog link everytime he posts (this current thread is the one exception). If it was occasional that would be a horse of a different color but to me it looks like promotion of his site is the primary motivation.
On his second post, he says he is leaving PMClub. On his fifth post, someone nicely asked him to mention PMClub on his blog, and his response was "what would you like me to say?"
He pretty much came right out in an argumentative manner and has continued that. Can the leopard change it's spots? Doubtful.
So even though he probably could be an asset, I think's that's unlikely to happen. I think it is more likely that I am off by 2 letters.
We are a good group and we weren't fighting with each other before he came along-

Don't look a gift horse in the mouth
by IAN MC - 2013-08-06 04:08:22
... is a saying which basically means " Don't be ungrateful when you receive a gift "
I am surprised and disappointed by the antagonism directed at Cardiac Technician . He could have been such a useful resource to us all if he had been handled correctly. All of his communications have been courteous and ,yes ,he has answered some questions with helpful responses which people seem to ignore.
I wish you well , Cardiac Technician, and maybe apologies should be coming from some PM Club members rather than the other way round IMHO.

My comment from another CT thread
by donr - 2013-08-06 09:08:18
I made the following comment in another of your threads & it is lost in the discussion, like a lonely petunia in an onion patch. It is germane to what others are saying, so I copied it here to make the discussion more complete & all in one spot.

You asked on 7/31 "What would you like me to say exactly?"
For starters, you are a trained professional in the PM business. I believe for ethical reasons, you need to make a Bio sketch entry on the member list for the world to read. I routinely look up that page on everyone I write a note to or have serious interest in their post/comment. That comes under what I would call "Full Disclosure." We have several others who fall into that category & there is a mixed bag as far as creating bio sketches.
2) As Inga & several others have commented [in previous threads], it looks like you are taking advantage of an established, functional, successful site to troll for correspondents for your own start-up Blog. Not really an ethical thing to do. Inasmuch as the owner of the site, Blake, spent a lot of effort putting it together, I'm not sure that he appreciates it, even though he has said nothing about it. Were I the owner, I'd have said something to you several weeks ago. The constant links to your site in every post you make is not appropriate. It is purely and simply advertising.
3) When you first came to our site, I went to read yours. There appeared the same material that you posted in response to someone's question - without attribution for the site it was created on. Hardly a class act. I have not had the time to go back to your Blog, but from what I read that Inga has written, I suspect that there are no significant changes.
4) The constant promotion of your own Blog strikes me as gaining free advertising - I'm sure that Blake sells adverts on this site to help pay his costs for the site. Not good form in my book. I'm sure that he would add your link to his "Web Links" section in the left column.
5) It is good to have a trained Tech as a resource, but if you want to participate in this site, make yourself available to us for answers to technical device questions separately from your own Blog. Sign off on your answers w/ a real name, your degree & your job title - For example: Freddie; Bsc; PM Tech. And - fill in the bio info in your registration page.
6) All your actions so far are those of a pirate trying to take over a ship.

Sorry If People get Offended
by bearss27 - 2013-08-06 10:08:50
I really feel some people are being very rude and I don't understand why everyone is downing him for trying to help. Some people should be ashamed of themselves because this is turning into a childish hissy fit over someone who some people just feel threatened over and I am starting to wonder why I seem to always see the same people answering most of the questions on here and I disagree with some of the recommendations that are given but this site is based off of what patients do not what is right medically to do and I think having cardiac tech on this site would have greatly helped this site but some people are threatened and unwilling to give him a chance which is why I feel the same people are answering everyone's questions because people feel unwelcome to give there opinion. To me if this is how this site is operated than I don't want to be a part of something that's not willing to except other views and is so quick to judge people in a short amount of time. I don't want to be apart of a group that just wants to disapprove of things that are not what they want and this site will go down really fast if stuff like this starts happening. Even though I disagree with some peoples recommendations I don't jump on and trash there opinion and what there doing its just common respect for other people but I can't keep my mouth shut about how some people are handling this situation and if people feel that what I said was wrong it then just proves my point and I don't want to be apart of a group that would sink this low. I don't know what this world has come to but not happy with the way people treat each other anymore if I don't come back you know why I can get information from many other resources that are less disapproving of others. I hope that some of the upper people that run this site and own this site read every bodies post and it would be great to get there opinion about whats going on.
Sorry in advanced cause I know this will offend some people and that's not my intention but something needed to be said.

Are people getting some sort of bizarre satisfaction out of bashing Cardiac Technician ? Talk about "kicking a man when he's down ! " .. could the main players back off please ... you are doing yourselves and the PM club no favours !

"I am starting to wonder why I seem to always see the same people answering most of the questions"
Well, probably because many, many others here don't bother to answer a question? There are loads of members who only ask for advice, often without even thanking those who took the time to reply. And many other who only read posts. This is definitely not because this forum only allows certain people to answer all the questions, but because unfortunately, so many members never actively engage. We could leave questions unanswered, that'd of course be an option, too. If you don't agree with some of the answers, feel free to join the discussion! That's what this forum is all about: People sharing their experiences, views, knowledge. If you are afraid of getting involved, then that's your problem. Don't go blaming those people who spend a lot of time trying to help everyone. If you have something to say, want to share a different view etc., just go ahead.
I always said that I would welcome if CT wants to engage actively in our forum. What I don't like is, if he only uses this forum to promote his blog. That's it.

My 3 cents worth....

I agree with Grateful Heart.
It appeared you were more interested in promoting your own site here, best wishes.

I guess you got what you wanted, name recogntion and notoritey to your blog, while riding on the back of Blake.
Do you know who Blake is?
I still agree with Donr who is a engineer and Snitch who is a scientist, their technical information is reliable and trustworthy.
It unfortunate that you sound like your going to take your toys and go home,..

It is just me?
by Acin - 2013-08-07 02:08:09
But I don't think it's a big deal that Cardiac Tech posts his blog after each post... folks that choose to read his blog may do so and those that don't choose to read it then that's there option. This issue is too small to get all bent out of shape over. Don't we all have more serious things to worry about? Just my opinion.....
