I had my pm June 11th and all went well, now I have to go back tomorrow(that's why I should have wrote earlier) and get a stress echo test because I'm feeling a bit "strange" I do still have blockages and I have one stint now, anyways I just read in my Medtronic booklet that diagnostic ultrasound can effect my heart device,.what will it do, any advice on such short notice? I'll check back later, thanks.

I too have had an echo, in cardio's rooms. I did not know that it could affect pm, (Medtronic) and it didn't. No worries at all.

Stress Echo

I've had stress echos with an ICD, no problems.
Believe me, if there was a problem, I would have had it. :o)
Having the test will be ok for you, or your Doctor would not have ordered it.
Good luck tomorrow,

Regular Heart Echo Test
by donb - 2013-09-03 11:09:43
Hi Betty, I've had regular heart echo tests in the 21 years of pacemakers as I also have 1 Heart stent. I have never been uncofortable with these tests & also is important for checking your heart's performance.
I found out the hard way by NOT having an echo done before my last chemical stress test which put me in the hospital for 5 days. I will never have another stress test without first having an echo done. In my case I had a build-up of fluid around my heart which resulted in a paracardial window surgery to remove the fluid from my paracarial sack around my heart. I would run your question to your Cardiologist. I am also most interested as I will always have a heart echo test done in the few years I have left which includes having my pacemakers.

At age 20, I will be getting a pacemaker in few weeks along with an SA node ablation. This opportunity may change a five year prognosis into a normal life span! I look forward to being a little old lady with a wicked cane!
Echocardiograms and PMs.

I have had an ECHO with a PM. This is fairly routine in a hospital setting. The people doing the test are well aware of not putting the 'probe' ( transducer head) too near the pacemaker box ( I think the recommended distance is >6 inches). If it comes too close it can give a temporary disturbance to the function of the PM, in theory.
I have never hear of anyone being messed up by having a PM and ECHO.
I would welcome to hear from anyone who has had such an event.
