Made it!

10 weeks post impkant, 13.5 miles in 84 degree heat, not gonna let a couple of wires screwed into my heart stop me. We won't talk about how long it took me to do them, or how many walk breaks I needed. Just happy to finish upright!

Yep, you did...

by donr - 2013-09-08 04:09:17

...And a big round of congrats to you for the perseverance to do it.

84 degrees, eh - yer crazy! In that kind of weather you are supposed to be sitting under a shade tree drinking iced cod lemonade.

Actually, I'm jealous. I could not do it even at a walk. But i'm glad you did it.

Wonderful News! so glad to hear! and may you keep doing those runs!

Crazy is right

You probably walk faster than I run. Most people do. Slowest runner on the planet, my only saving grace is endurance and moving forward even if its just a shuffle at times. Like the last mile and a half today.

Congrats

This was just a training run and since I usually have to walk the last 2 miles I am going to try to train to 15 or miles for the Maine marathon (1/2) coming up in Oct. My ep wants all his patients to be cookie cutter sedentary and i think he and the pm techs are clueless on how to fine tune these puppies for active people. So not impressed with their approach but I wont their lack of skill stop me either.

Hi Boston...........

....................congratulations from Tattoo Man,.. a member of the wonderful NOTFAST running club ,..here in the UK.

I asked my PM Tecchie many times if he could pimp my PM up so I could run faster, but he wont play ball..!

Again..well done !

Great job!!! Who cares about the time or walk breaks?! You did it, that's all that counts.

I'll bet you run faster than me. I usually don't pay much attention to my times but I'm doing a challenge at my gym and we started it off Sat with a benchmark so they made us write down our times to compare again at the end. I did a whoppin 11:30 mile. For me, that's fast ;oP

I saw a picture floating around facebook a while back taking during a 5K. It said "Fat. Diabetic. Ahead of you." I want a heart version.

Good luck

Good luck Friday, hope your doctor is willing to listen to you.

I still believe that some doctors are excellent, when it comes to implanting devices, but when it comes to the technical issues surrounding the devices, they turn to the technicians.

Not always a very comforting thought.

Yes

I can tell he likes devices and surgery, people not so much. Dont think they realize the devices go inside real human beings that have to live with them afterward and not just into anesthesized bodies on an OR table. BTW, 50 miles a week of jogging is amazing. Good job!

Hmmm!!!

Hey Boston,

Do you remember the show "House", with Drew Laurie the tempermental genious of a doctor, who really didn't like people.

Is your doctor the real "House".

Thanks for the compliment regardin my miles, I'll be damned, if I let this pm get in the way.

Jogging

by Bostonstrong - 2013-09-10 06:09:26

My EP doesn't have as much personality as the dr on House :) Did you jog that much prior to your pm? I am fairly new at this, did my first half marathon last November. Got my pm this June.

One question please

by Moner - 2013-09-10 12:09:32

Awhile back I believe you were in the market looking for a new EP, have you found one yet?

I hope you find somebody who supports your active lifestyle.

Keep on doing what your doing, you might inspire him with his other patients.

ep

by Bostonstrong - 2013-09-10 12:09:52

No, once I started back to work I've beencrazy busy. I have an NP student who works as an RN in a cath lab and she has given me suggestions on more personable eps but not sure if they are any better with active patients. I have an appt with my ep friday and I am gonna lay it all out for him and hope he can figure it out.

You know you're wired when...

You run like the bionic man.

I've seen many posts about people being concerned about exercise after having a device so thought I would let you know that yesterday I raced my first marathon since having my pacemaker fitted in fall 2004.
