I'm at my primary care doctor's office and the nurse comes in to take my vitals. While she is taking my pulse on my right wrist, I tell her that I have a pacemaker. She drops my wrist and moves over to my left wrist and says, " Do you have a pacemaker on this side, too?" I didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

I really needed that today.
I can't read now from the tears in my eyes.

Seldom do office docs use RN's

in their office. Usually they are Medical Assistants & usually have about 6 months education mostly on office issues-taking vitals, etc. I agree that this is scary but I would assume that an RN or an LPN would know more about a PM than this.

Did she have a name tag saying saying RN? More likely a medical asst.

Hopefully she's not in charge of more than writing down what she sees! It's amazing how little people know about them once you get outside the cardiology department.
