the heat

Hi. I used to be the person who loved being out in the heat and humidity. It really didn't affect me at all. Now, with the heat wave going on (I got my PM one month ago) I am really struggling with the heat, have shortness of breath and it's causing anxiety. I want to get healthier and lose some weight, but all I feel like doing is lying down. Has this happened to anyone else?

Heat Wave

The heat can affect everyone, young and old especially this heat wave in the East. I find I feel it when the ozone readings are too high.

If you are having shortness of breath due to the heat, give yourself a rest. This isn't due to break until the weekend.

Stay hydrated and try to stay cool.

Never did well in the heat and as I got older I really don't do well. I don't think it's really pm related but I do think its age related. Stay inside on these hot and humid days and drink plenty of water.

I've had my PM for about 5 weeks now and live in the SW where it's normally very dry. I have never liked the humidity but never was a big problem. It's our monsoon season now and has been very humid for us (I hear the folks on the east coast laughing). I went for a walk and got really short of breath and it felt like I was walking with leg weights. I need to loose weight and get in better shape.

I'm going to see my cardio office today to discuss this but I'm suspecting that I'm going to have to exercise inside for a while, and do slower and longer sessions. Some folks on this site have suggested I check on cardio rehab and I will be asking about that.

Take care
Kathy

We are having a warm weather in NW. today will be nice at 83. I have been hitting the pavement at 5 in the morning with the hubby and dogs. I grew up in Tucson, so I remember monsoon season. and we lived in Albany, Ga. for a couple years. I think if you got a treadmill in the house walk on it. with a nice cool water bottle in the cup holder!!!
