pm recovery period

hi all
thankyou to all of you that have replyed to my posts in the past i just thought id let you know that after a long hard battle i am now going to have my six year old pm reimplanted deeper as ive been having problems with it flipping, moving and causing pain. the surgery is on 14.8.08 and although very nervous as im told it is a more painful recovery than the inital implamt i am also relieved to be on the way to feeling better. the surgeon who is going to do it is lovely and i have confidence in him. any advice on the recovery period of deep muscle pm implantation would be gratefully recieved. thanks again for this wonderful site and all the support ive had. have a good weekend all.

HI Belly,

I got my first Pm in Sept, of 07'. I had the same problems as you. It was very uncomfortable & I hated it. I went in January 08' And they repositioned it under a muscle. My recovery was about a week longer (3 weeks only because I want to make sure everything was ok with it. Because of my occupation Childcare teacher).

I can honestly say, I don't think about it much any longer. I have been told the first year you should cover it from the sun to help with darkening & I really have to remember to do that because I have forgotten about it.

I wish you all the best and everything will be just fine.

Good Luck & keep us posted please

Gloria

The recovery is a little longer but it's not bad at all! Mine is buried quite deep- they went in from the side (rather than under the clavicle) and completely buried it under the breast. I got the first in '93 and have had it replaced three times now.

I didn't find the pain to be bad at all. I got by on tylenol after I got home, never bothered with the prescription for anything stronger. The first time I had almost full motion within a week or two but was a bit sore and didn't lift much with my left arm for another few weeks. For a while I'll sleep on my back and hug a pillow with my left arm so I don't bump the sore spot in my sleep, but odds are good yours won't be as deep as mine and you won't need to do this.

The replacements are no worse than any other replacement, they use the same pocket so they aren't going through any new tissue.

You know you're wired when...

Lifetime warranty no longer gives peace of mind.
