When did you go back to work?

I'm only 4 days from having my PM inserted, but my doctor wasn't clear on when I could go back to work. I have a very demanding job (I Love!) that involves physical work, but much of it is computer work. I just got the warnings about lifting my arm, but no indication of when I should get back to work. I'm pretty wiped out if I do much around the house, but going a bit stir crazy wondering when I'll feel better. Also the people at work need to know when I'll be back. I should also say that the day before my surgery during a tilt table test my heart stopped completely for 60 seconds and they needed to use cardiac compressions to get me going again. Is that why I'm still wiped out? I had the test because I passed out and face planted getting a concussion and broken nose two weeks before so that could still be effecting me too... I'm an active 59 year old and I'm never sick so just hanging around waiting to feel better is making me more depressed than the shock of the PM. How long did others stay out of work?

Hi kgdalg,
I am 6 days post PM implant and my doctor (specialist) said today that I should be back at work and he is not comfortable writing a certificate past today. But I am still sore, very tired and cannot drive so I am going to have to book into my GP to ask him what to do.
Perhaps your work would let you go back 1/2 days just doing computer work for a week or so.
Good luck, I am finding all these doctors opinions quite confusing and often opposing.

Thanks for the comments and I see why we are all different. I guess I just needed to know if I was being wimpy compared to all of the rest of you and needed to kick myself in the rear to get going. It's a gorgeous morning. I think I'll head out for a short easy walk and checkout all those new blossoms that seemed to appear overnight. Thanks for being there. I'm sure you ain't heard the last of me yet. I know I'll have a million questions in the future.

One week has passed and I must admit that each day I feel a little stronger.
I think all that happened to you

prior to getting the PM more than likely has caused you to be tired. I sure would be after all that. So you may not be able to return to work as soon as many of us have. Seeing your GP is a good idea to get a realistic date to return. I had a very simple procedure, post AV node ablation for Afib & felt really, really great afterwards but still sore & tired. Didn't ask & nothing said about return to work so I went back after about 6 days off & almost fell on my face from fatigue. But as my job was only answering phones & using computer I motored thru. But I wish I had stayed out at least a week. So I did not go thru all you did pre-PM. So take care of yourself & be careful. Check with your GPO & remind GP of all that you went thru. I think docs see so many patients they forget some of the stuff may affect us more than more as they see so much.
