New here

Hi everyone don't know where to start but I am having an EPS study with ablation on Tuesday. I've recently been dxed with PSVT and put on Toprolol to try and stop the PSVT's but it made me feel worse so the dr. is going ahead with the EPS and ablation and said that I might end up with a pacemaker. (depending on what he finds) Before I started the drug the holter monitor reveled 3 sec plus sinus pauses mostly at night. now the new dx according to my latest EOB (from insur.) is PSVT and SND. I've done some research and i know everything will be fine but i guess i've still got a little apprehension about the whole thing. I'm only 53 but I want to start feeling better, I've been low energy and not feeling very good for about 2 months and nearly passed out at work in March.

billylittle--I'm so glad to hear that! I've had swelling in my legs on and off for years and I'm sure occasions when I had PSVT's but didn't know it until just a few months ago when it started getting really bad. I finally went to another dr. who immediately caught it and referred me to cardio. It's totally zapped me and for a month I've been unable to work because of it. (I work as a cashier at Walmart) the good news is that the dr. said once this is all taken care of I will feel immediately better and be able to go back to work just that fast! i'm having the procedure on the 23rd and start back to work on the 27th! we'll see if he'll actually let me go back that fast but when I asked him last week he seemed to think I'd be ok.

Same thing

I am 36 and just went through the same thing as you. I have had two ablations and wound up with a PM. I feel better...

hope over fear

Hi! Your feeling of fear of the unknown is normal. If we aren't careful though, it can get us stuck. Try to focus on the fact you now know what your heart needs, it is available, and you are getting it for a better life. Ask questions when you have them. Make sure you understand all instructions. Keep your positive attitude, as hope, experience and time will conquer your fears. Keep us posted. Hopeful Heart

Thank you for your nice comment. I am trying to remain positive and like I said I know everything will be ok but there's always that little thing called fear that creeps up on us ha! I just mustn't go there! I am excited though to maybe finally get feeling better again. That's what keeps me going! As far as questions --i don't even know where to begin right now--it's all happened so fast and the reality I think is finally starting to settle in. I'm sure i'll have many but right now I think I'll wait until after Tuesday when I find out really what's going on.

I just want to share about the quality of life after my pacemaker, and hopefully increase awareness that lifestyles do not have to be drastically modified just because we are pacemaker recipients.
