Too sensitive?

i just had a single chamber medtronics sensia sr put in a couple of days ago. I noticed that on the ride home it seemed that it was set too sensitive and the ride home was making the heart rate go up from bumps in the car. Is this possible? Is this feature adjustable by a programmer?

with my 1st. It was the rate response & after adjusted was not a problem any more. Call your EP/cardio office & get checked.

Hope this helps,

Janet

Increasing your heart rate with bumps

Your PM probably has an accelerometer - this detects movement and acts as a switch to increase heart rate. Such little electronics are in all sorts of gadgets, the most well known being iPhones and iPads so the image changes from landscape to portrait on turning the device.

My wife threatens to tap my pacemaker with her fingers when I am dozing. Tapping the box will increase heart rate - you can use this to see if the setting is DDDR- the R being rate responsive. Tapping will then increase you heart rate.Should you need to do a sprint, you have the advantage of being able to get your heart rate up prior to the action.

The response rate of the accelerometer can be set on your check up ( onset and offset) depending on life style. ? life in the fast lane!

A medtronics programmer changed the rate response setting for me and so far so good.
