Some high tech info

I just want to share this with all of you in case you haven't seen it.
I remember our dear past member Electric Frank had to design his own EKG machine for his own use. In the near future, we can all have one at home by using our phone.
Check this out. Very interesting

Highg Tech Medicine

Duke: Watched the link you sent.

Personally, I am not enamored of telephone medicine. I prefer to be able to sit & look my provider in the eyes while we talk. Phone consults are rather impersonal.

It will not improve the bedside manner of the cold, wet fish in the business.

Frank & I discussed his EKG/ECG machine several times. His interest was in designing a high bandwidth machine that would show more detail in the trace, allowing potentially more insight into the electrical activity of the heart. He modified a Tectronix digital sampling oscilloscope used for electronic equipment diagnostics so that it would operate as an ECG machine. He had discussed his results w/ at least one Cardio & a PM technician & they commented that his device showed more detail than current HUMAN knowledge could digest & interpret at this time, but there was promise for the future.

Hi Duke. Thanks for sending that...really interesting !

If all we need to monitor various medical conditions is a sensor and a smartphone then medical costs should fall in the long term...I bet all the vested interests in the US will fight these advances. Interesting times ahead !!

Cheers

There was a horizon documentary called 'monitor me' on BBC a few weeks ago which set out to detail this new self monitoring digital age....well worth a watch. Not sure if you can get BBC iPlayer in the sates tho, robo-ver x

You know you're wired when...
