Driving and Working in Office

I am 60 and have only had my PM for 6 days now. It is CRT-D if that make a difference in the answer to this question. I drive an hour to work and slightly over an hour back home. I am left handed and the PM is on the left side. Still having some pain that last for a couple of hours. I have enough time to take off, but has anyone just worked 1/2 days for awhile and if so, how long? My job is stressful but I am slowly dealing with that. There are a lot of deadlines to meet....

Thanks,

ED

Driving

You should realy check with the Dr. or clinic before driving anywhere. Most of us were given driving restrictions and/or bans apon discharge.Personally mine was for 6 weeks after my first implant. The leads need time to fully (set?) prior to going back to life as usual (so to speak). I myself went back to work part time a little over a week later, but did not drive to or from, and had a very stress free position. A lot is personal choice, but don't push. At a time like this you need to concentrate on yourself. Best of luck to you on your joune!

Hi, I'm 2 weeks post implant tomorrow & I go back to work tomorrow, to a fairly stressful job. I will see how it goes, they have been very supportive pre-implant & if I am not up to it I will switch to shorter days. As for driving, here in the UK I had to wait a week before driving again, contact my insurance company & let DVLA know. Good luck.

I went back to work in one and a half weeks and I drove in a week. I went back part time for a few weeks. I work 3 miles from my house so it wasn't a long trip but my job is stressful. Sometimes I went home at noon time -- I let my body be my guide.

Hi Ed, I can not say how it would be for the original implant but when I have had mine replaced I only took a couple days off work and was driving the day after. I kept my arm in a sling to make sure I didn't use it and drove with only my right hand...probably not the best practice but it got my around. I have a desk job so I also typed one handed for about a week until things felt settled. I'm sure the doctor has recommendations but that has just been my experience.

It is just over 10 years since a dual lead device was implanted for complete heart block. It has worked perfectly and I have traveled well near two million miles internationally since then.
