Hello.

As a new member of the club, I hope to be able to contribute as well as learn from others while dealing with this New stage of my life. As I research pacemakers, I'm finding that I am going to have to make some lifestyle changes to stay healthy. My biggest concern now is exercising and weight control. If any one has any tips I'd appreciate it.

Thanks.

Get approval from your Cardio to go to Cardiac Rehab...a good one. The Nurses will monitor you and let you know how much you can exercise and check your heart rate and blood pressure. It is reassuring to know they are there in case anything happens.

I had the best Cardiac Rehab Nurses, they made the class fun, but also made sure you moved. You can move at your own pace, just move in the beginning….
You will also attend a class on nutrition. These are all great tools to begin to change your lifestyle. Small changes turn into big ones.

Learn all you can from this site too. The more you learn about your condition and device, the more comfortable you will become with it all. Ask any questions or concerns you may have, this is a kind, caring and knowledgeable group.

Keep us posted with your success, it will come.

Yesterday was my first day mountain biking after my implant. I wiped out several times and everything is fine. There are sports after pacemakers!
