Hi everyone,
I just started to work with the company which made parts of elements in the pacemaker. And as I know there are some quiet famous companies like Guidant/ Medtronic/ St. Jude medical/ biotronik/ Sorin Group etc..
However, I wanna know if there are some famous pacemaker companies in France? I looked it up on the internet, but there seems no have much information about that.
Does anyone can kindly give me some answer? or how I should find the information?
I really appreciate that! Thank you all in advance!

ELA

Hi Justin It isn't of much help but I think the French pace- maker manufacturer, ELA, still manufactures PMs in Paris,
They were part of the French pharmaceutical company, Sanofi until 2001 when Sanofi sold ELA to Sorin ( who I believe are Italian } . I think ELA still has its own-brand PMs but I'm not 100% certain on that.
Cheers

....................you are just what PMC has been waiting for this year...a great opportunity to have a go at any 'European Countries ' that the average person can spell.
So Sorin..my last PM.. was French..that explains my lost Libido..
So ..THANK YOU ..Ian..my new St Judes is a good old fashioned catholic PM..always a source of trouble.
My one is the St Judes Cardinal ,..one ...cool in red gloss
But unreliable...one day its like my first Alfa-Romeo..."Oooh Monday--will not start"
Tuesday..." Ahhm wit da choirboy.. an cannot ansa ma fone"....you want pasta with that ??

Ela = Sorin

ELA has been acquired by Sorin. Sorin is a half french, half italian company. My pacemaker identity card for my Sorin pacer still says it's an Ela. All of my cardios say it's a small manufacturer, but its pacemakers are really high-end pieces of technology, a bit more expensive than those by the big pacemaker manufacturers, but worth every cent. My Sorin Reply DR is, in direct comparison, even better than Medtronic's so often implanted Adapta, because it has a dual-sensor rate response that no Medtronic pacers have (well, the old Kappa 401 had it).

Inga ...a question ?

I am delighted that you are supporting the EU with your French / Italian device , although the thought of a Ferrari with a Peugeot engine doesn't excite me !
I am curious ; in the true spirit of " Vorsprung durch Technik".. are there any German pacemakers ?

You fondly named your implanted buddy.

Biotronik

Hi Ian!
Now, that there is no more Sarcozy and no more Berlusconi, I'm even happier that I have this nice French-Italian pacemaker :) Didn't know about Sorin, before a doctor about pacemakers with dual-sensor rate response, and he said that the best model he knows is the Sorin Reply DR.
Biotronik is German, so that's one of the bigger manufacturers. You can find out more about it's history at: http://www.biotronik.de/wps/wcm/connect/en_de_web/biotronik/right/tradition/page_history_com/#jump
