......Yeah, THAT Bossy. Short for Grand Dame Bossy, as dubbed by the indefagitable Tattoo Man.
Remember that she was planning a major surgery for this month. A Left lateral meniscus repair job, or some sort of procedure.
Well, I just heard from her - She SURVIVED! She did NOT report on the mental state of the hosp where they did the surgery, however.
She is in rare form, back home in Indiana, nursing a sore leg. I shall NOT even attempt to describe her state - I'll use her own words:
She said:
"Ha, I just scooted on my butt up up the stairs, crawled to the bedroom, grabbed a dresser and hopped to the bathroom. Hobbled back down the stairs and I'm going to be planted on the couch with my cryo cuff for awhile. So glad to be out of there."
So, there you have it friends, another successful ortho intervention. Bossy will be back on the marathon trail before we know it.

Life as a couch potato isn't all it's cracked up to be. I'd rather be running. They tried to put me on 23 hr observation, don't even want to talk about how hard it was to outwit them while under the influence of multiple drugs.
But I did it:)

I can't believe that. Well, obviously, yes I can but I thought it was just on the East Coast.
When you're feeling better, I have to hear the story. Can't wait to hear what YOU said.

Polar PAC

Sounds similar to the cryo cuff. It doesn't pump but every so often I drain out the old water and let new cold water flow in by gravity.
Get well soon

Just sending my wishes for a speedy recovery! Glad to hear everything went ok! Keep that ice going on it!
Thanks GH, probably banned now..

Pacer rep made it a point to let me know how annoyed she was to be there. But everyone in Indiana is in a bad mood at this point in the winter so I'm not taking the lack of professionalism personally.
I did chicken out at one point preop and got up to change and walk out but just then the surgeon walked in and I got escorted to the OR.

Did they give you a polar Pac?? looks like a mini cooler with a pump that pumps cold water?? daughter and husband both really liked it when they had same procedure.

Oh I was charming and polite and totally held my ground while wondering why with billions they make on our devices they can't train reps to have be just a tad less surly. Would it cut into their budget that badly to train them in basic social skills, like introducing themselves. Free pre op amusement !
Reps

I just don't understand it but.....being on the receiving end is very upsetting. The last thing you need right before surgery is more stress.

Stress
by Bostonstrong - 2014-03-17 10:03:34
Well the accident we were in on the way there was stressful. Knowing that I have to pay out of network fees for this surgery because the surgery center at my hospital thinks paced people are too high risk. .. Also a little stressful. Spending 2 hours in a freezing preop room, sort of stressful. Dealing with an anesthesiologist who refused to tell me what he was going to give me..quite stressful. Dealing with a rep who acted like she was going to need therapy for having to do her job ..not a big deal. But again we pay a lot for these devices. Customer service could be part of their training.
Yikes
by Grateful Heart - 2014-03-17 11:03:08
And you're in the business.
I hope the accident wasn't serious.

Enjoy it and make it work for you .

Finally got to talk to the surgeon. Arthritis, torn medial meniscus, torn lateral meniscus. Slow going but I walked about a mile and half in two sessions on crutches. He did say limited weight bearing was ok. My NP brought me over some food, was appalled that I had been out walking but the fresh air felt good. She says I'm a really bad patient ...
Speedy Recovery

Hello Madam Boston,
Good to hear from you again, hoping you have a quick recovery, remember Spring is right around the corner
Enjoy the Bonsbons and salted chocolate carmels.
If you were in show biz, I'd say break a leg, but I'll pass on this one.
Enjoy the rest.

Hurray!!

Your back, hope you gave them all what they deserve for not being wonderful to our very own Madam Bossy. Now is the time to eat Bonbons and read 50 Shades of Gray, or some such nonsense. In other words, relax and baby yourself for awhile, we missed you. Prayers for a leg that runs well. Jean

...............................I have been thinking about Bossys Cryo Cuff...woudnt you think that this would be the perfect place to tuck in a Gin and Tonic whilst munching Chox and reading salacious literature as Jeanlabonviveur suggests ??

Hi Boss Lady !! ............

...................many thanks to Don Donr for keeping us up to date of your shenanigans...never a dull moment in your life eh ?..
Glad that you survived the miseries of your highly paid ' PM supporters ', but all in a good cause. Promise us all that you will be a Good Girl when it comes to your return to running. Now I have seen runners do too much post surgery...and its sometimes not a pretty sight, as getting decent advice is ,as we all know , difficult to find....the Medics will tell you one thing and Running Crazies will say the opposite...
One of the hardest things that committed runners have to learn is..' Taking it steadily ' and if I guess right the only people that you will take any notice of will be fellow runners...so...heres my advice..
"TAKE IT STEADILY "
Keep a diary, log any exercise , be it stretching, floor work or JOGGING...yeah, that Dirty Word.
If it hurts...STOP...if you feel invincible...STOP.
Only when you have an unbroken period of totally pain free exercise,...as in continuous, gentle exercise, do you even consider 'Running '
One day youll thank me Girl.
Tattoo Man xx
I am currently in Bansko, Bulgaria with Mrs TM, we are at 1000 metres altitude. I have my snow shoes with YakTraks and plan to do some running up the Blue Runs...also some Pole Walking at 2500 m with Mrs TM....you take care Bossy x

Bulgaria eh ! You know how to treat a girl !
Be careful: while you are poncing around in your Yak Traks , Putin's boys will have moved in ; he's getting bored with Ukraine and now has his eye on Bulgaria ! How is your Russian ?
I don't know what to make of Bossy Cold-Knees ; I suspect that her cryo cuff is packed with chocolate, or neat alcohol, or illicit drugs. I would like to see the contents of that gravity-driven bag analysed and a full report published here on the PM club.
Anyway have a good time,I'm flying off with Mrs IAN MC tomorrow to the Canary Islands in search of sunshine ; hope they don't lose our plane !
Cheers
Ian

You are cracking me up! Laughter really is the best medicine. My NP came over yesterday and refilled the cryo cooler, hard to say what she put in there besides ice, I suspect heavy doses of an unspecified substance as she is trying very hard to keep me on the couch.
Of course I'm following Jeans suggestions. She has good advice! We need someone like her in medical offices replacing the self important frowning weasel faced people who are no fun at all.
Enjoy your vacations and be careful
Today I am going to behave and follow doctors orders...

Should now be " NO LONGER nervous! Mission accomplished !!
Just a word of caution.
by Nervoususertobe - 2015-07-13 04:07:35
Someone suggested it was time to eat bonbons. NOT a good idea. Keep of the sugar as much as possible Neither good for your cardiovascular system or your pancreas !!!!!
You know you're wired when...
You have a 25 year mortgage on your device.

Heard they were banning Bossy
by Grateful Heart - 2014-03-17 09:03:03
Thought you took it literally. :-)
Don't worry, no banning Bossy here!
Glad it's over and you are home recovering.
