Colon Polyps

As you read this, they will be wheeling me into an OR to remove 6" of colon & a flat polyp that could not be removed from the inside.

It was found during a routine scope job on Tues afternoon.
Got an instantaneous cardiac clearance from my Cardio late yesterday.

Have talked to the surgeon about electrocautery -he uses it extensively. Talked to anesthesiologist, also. This a major cardiac surgery hosp (St. Joseph's in Atlanta, GA) so he sees a lot of PM's. According to the NP who came in, they will call the Medtronics Rep to reprogram me for the operation & fix things back afterward. I just happened to have a copy of my settings in my bag that I carry everywhere.

All seems to be on track. If all goes well, I'll be back in 4-5 days. Yes, it's gonna hurt. yes, I'll be losing a knife fight to a pro, so it will hurt for a while. Yes, the mental is to the physical as three is to one. Yes, we all are different & all react differently. Yes, I'm scared as Heck, but I'm gonna saddle up & ride out anyway. Yes, I'm gonna chat up the OR techs & ask them a ton of questions. Yes, I just talked to the Internal medicine guy about going BACK on rat poison . Yes, I talked w/ the Cardio who came to see me last night about my PM care in the OR & reviewed the settings w/him. Yes, I asked where they will put the ground plane for the electrocautery. Yes, we talked about antibiotics for post-op.

If there's anything else that I use a soap box to talk about, just remember that it's so easy to remember what someone else should do. Physician, heal thyself!

If anyone wants to say a prayer, say it for Dr, Binderow, the surgeon & his crew -I/m just going to be a lump on the table for about an hour.

See you next week.

Don

Don't get too relaxed while being a lump on the table. It sounds like you're doing a great job of walking your talk, so I'm hoping-trusting that the rest will go well too.

I, too, am anticipating that tall tale about the knife duel and all its results.

I hope all went well and they give you a clean bill of health. Going thru what you did will not be easy. I just hope and pray they got it all. Colon cancer is a bad thing to go thru. It runs very high in my family. I even had a brother die from it at 40 years old. He was never sick in his hold life.

Myself, I have to get checked once a year. I used to go to a clinic. Now I have to do as you did in a hospital. Last trip in, they had to do some cutting. Bad thing was I had to go back one month later to check to see if they got everything. So, you might have to do that too! Sucks the big one going thru the prep. LOL

Take care and pray for a speedy recover,
Paul
