Hi. My name is Joy. I am 28 years old, I was diagnosied with POTS two years ago. Since then I have had 4 EP studies and with those I have had to ablations and a Sinus Node Modification. I just had the Sinus Node Mod in the end of September. I am worried about what if it doesnt hold. I have felt the best I have felt in a long time and I am worried everytime I feel a flutter or I faint. And I know the doctor said that within a year I may need a pacemaker and I am dealing with that but I do not know what to expect to feel when I realize I need to get checked. I am scared. I have not meet anyone who has had this done and I stumbled upon this website and I thought Id give it a try.

Thank you so very much!! Your comment was very reasuring and I feel so much better. You are right I need to just enjoy my life the way I am right now and not be waiting for something to happen. :) I am glad to hear that you are feeling well right now too. It is nice to have someone know exactly what I am feeling and understand so well.

Hi!
Regarding your fears - believe me, you'll know when the sinus node modification does not hold, and you'll know when it's time for a pacemaker. It does not make sense now to tell you what to watch out for, because I'm afraid that will have you concentrate on these symptoms and watch out for them too much. Right now you should enjoy that you are doing better, there is no need to worry. Keep in mind what the doctor said can happen, so that in case you start feeling ill, you remember his words, and can give him a call. I mean, if it doesn't hold, you'll probably just feel like you did before the modification; you'll recognize the symptoms, I'm sure. Just trust your body and your perception of your body, it will tell you when there's something wrong.
I had sinus node modifications to treat a drug-refractory 24/7 sinus tachycardia. After the third modulation, my heart rate finally went down. I was released without a pacemaker implant. In the following six weeks, my heart rate slowed down a little more, and then I started to feel like I had not slept at all when I woke up in the morning. I just knew something was wrong. So, I told my cardio, and he had me wear a holter monitor which then confirmed that my heart rate was getting too slow, even pausing, and that I needed a pacemaker. Your mind and body will let you know when it's time to give your doctor a call.
In September I had an AV-node ablation. It has worked great for me so far. I'm doing better than ever before - just like you. My cardio and I both know that this is no guarantee for no more problems, but for now I'll just live and dispel all worries - this is the time to live and enjoy, the time to move forward, the time to do things I could not do before!
Hope this helps a bit.
Best wishes
Inga
