There was a reason.....

I posted earlier today basically saying us older folk (I'm 83) are not as chipper as some of you. I guess the note was precipitated by the fact I have been feeling all over lousy most of the time, not necessarily having to do with PM. Had appointment with GP today he said I have textbook gallbladder symptoms and to prepare for a HIDA scan and subsequent surgery. So that is another example of mind and matter. My body knew something was wrong and my brain was reacting to this unknown and letting me know all was not well. So I know this is a PM site but has anyone with recent PM implant had to have gallbladder surgery. I guess if you are able to talk about it, you came through ok. And Don, have a safe trip.

Hopefully Tracey, Inga, or the Dons , Grateful or someone with EXPERIENCE will answere your question. Ask the EP and Surgeon if you can have the laporoscopic or not..Seems to me I remember hearing that people with icd's or pacemakers should have the old fasion kind of surgery...Hope I am wrong, 'cause I'm looking at the same thing myself. Good luck and may the people who know come to your rescue soon.! ..Sorry you are feeling so bad. Bev

I guess we were typing at the same time!

Ask and you shall receive. :o)

You should be fine too. It was probably the easiest surgery I have ever had.

I hope both of you feel better.

I had mine removed

A little over 2 years ago. I have a Bi-V ICD for almost 5 years now. They removed the gallbladder laparoscopically. The surgery went well. It wasn't bad at all.

For me, the issue always seems to be programming the device before and after surgeries, or in the case of my last surgery, 1 rep in particular. But that's only in my case. lol

Getting back to gallbladder surgery, yes, you can have it with a PM. The Docs will take care of you. I know what you mean about mind and matter. I can tell when something is off with my body too.

Hope you feel better,

Talk about mind over matter. I feel so much better since reading the replies, and taking two Tylenol. However I just swallowed the Tylenol so it has to be feeling the warmth, care and concern filling my computer screen. The reprogramming and adjusting of medication after the surgery is a concern for me too. But believe me, if it does not feel right, I am not waiting three months to have it checked. And Bev, my GP had said laparoscopic could be done with a PM as Grateful Heart said.. Have you had the HIDA scan? Mine is scheduled for next week before surgery. The ultrasound had detected stones last December but with no symptoms, Dr. said to just wait and see. Maybe I would be one of the lucky ones. my GP said before 60, people know when they are having an attack because the nerves react but as we get older, those nerves are deadened so the symptoms show up in other ways. I thought I was safe because I didn't have an attack. Another example hearkening back to original message sent earlier today before I knew. As we get older, it's not only wrinkles that make their appearance. And Angry Sparrow let's hope that you are right and life will be better.
Sending good thoughts to you both.

I had my gall bladder removed, but before pm. All went well, and as it was an emergency I felt so much better afterwards and was back at work in a week. However it did take me 5 months to really feel on top of things, so just take it easy afterwards. I have had an anaesthetic since having pm, with absolutely no worries.
Hope all goes well for you and lots of love.

Ironic

Just wanted to add to comment above--it's kind of ironic in a way because the nurses (or another dr. --actually think it was the anesthesiologist ) at that point had picked up an arrhythmia and they wanted to put me on a holter and keep me an extra day --my surgeon came in just after they hooked me up and said no it was just my heart and there wasn't a problem and was sent home---FF 4 years later and now i've got problems ha!

Gallbladder surgery

by kmom - 2013-08-14 12:08:28

I don't have a PM yet?? but I did have to have my gallbladder out about 4 years ago. The proceedure was supposed to be outpatient --they go in with a laproscope and do it that way. however as they were removing my gallbladder it started to leak so they had to open me up and I had to stay in hospital 2 nights. These days with most gallbladder surgery it's a snap and recovery is pretty quick if they can do it laperscopically --even so my recovery wasn't bad but of course I hurt where they had to cut me open. if it hadn't been for that i don't think i would have had much pain at all. I just remember when I had my attack that it felt like heartburn from hell! ha! didn't even realize how much pain I was actually in until the dr. in the ER started poking around and I about went thru the roof! You'll be OK! Good luck and keep us posted. praying for a speedy recovery!
