GOLFING

To the Golfers of our PM club:
Could you guys please tell me, how long did you have to wait to start Golfing after your PM placement, and how soon could you do a full swing?. Is there any advice or pearls you can give me as how slowly to start and how to avoid problems. I'm grateful to you.

Swing

I was told not to raise my right arm above my shoulder for 6 weeks until I was checked again. My PM is on the right side. After that I was told I could do anything. They don't want the wires to dislodge.

I live near the PGA headquarters with the highest number of golf courses per capita in the country so my EP has a special section on his standard instruction sheet just for golfers. 6 weeks for any weight over 20 lbs or raising arm above shoulder level, 3 months for a full golf swing. So, you can putt right away, pitch/chip after 6 weeks, drivers after 3 months.

It's important to use your arm right away. Don't lift too much or raise it too far, but any other movement is good. You don't want frozen shoulder.

Got my PM August 2, 2012, played my first 18 September 9. My Doc said I could do what ever felt OK after 4 weeks. He said if it hurts don't do it. It didn't hurt so I did it. Played again September 10. Went for a week of golf the first of November down in Naples.
