Greetings to all!
So I still have insurance but ran out of money. Called AHA (American Heart Association) and they could offer nothing of any value..typical NPO. Called Medtronics who is the maker of my device...no help either. A pacemaker is not like an alternator or a starter or a tie rod on my car...this device keeps me alive but now, like my vehicle, I guess I am waiting for the tow truck to take me to the "Junkyard"!
The health care reform act is a joke folks. I have insurance but am no longer able to pay what it doesn't. Which leads me to believe that, once everyone is required to have insurance, there will still be enormous debt that goes unpaid.
So who really benefits from all of this? Big Government and it's buddies that's who! Those who make too little or nothing at all already have free health care..this will not change. Folks like me who are struggling are still left out in the cold.
I did notice that when most stocks fall, Health Insurance companies still show gains...hmmm ponder that one. Sure would be nice to have a business where folks are forced by law to buy your product!

I have my PM 3 weeks ago, i did pay , but i took a loan, next time if I can win enough money , I'll have the PM replaced , if not I'll try my luck to live without PM ,,,, since I was born like I am with a heart block 2x1,, hope in God i'll live........ it is too much cost replacing a PM,,,, it feels like you are a slave to work all your life for PM replace,,,, those who have invented it have done a great job, but it is for those who have money ,,,,,,,, :(

I'm in that boat. I worked my butt off all my life and tryed to save as much money for retirement as I could. After 31 years on the same job, I was fired and at the same time, I lost health insurance. Well, I was able to get COBRA insurance, but the cost is out the roof, making me get into my retirement funds. I have to do this till I'm able to get on medicare which is 6 months. That $2400 a month is taking a big bite, besides what I have to pay out of pocket each month. I try to get my wife to devorce me to were I could give her all the money we have, but she wouldn't do it.
So now we are heading to the poor house. So much working all your life.

Hi. Greetings to you as well. I know all too well what you mean. I haven't had a pace check since 2010 due to no money to pay. I would like to say that I have no insurance and yes I am poor ( sadly enough). Well when things got bad I went to the local university hospital and they were great. They even called my doctor until he made a showing. They told me whenever I need them and dont have the money to get to the doctors just come there. When the bill comes in , if I am unable to pay it then I am to go the financial department of the hospital and fill out forms. It will be paid for due to this being a medical university. Maybe this will help. Note... I agree with your comment..
