Wow! I am new to this site and really am dissapointed I didn't know it existed until now. What a great resource and how it could have helped me a lot in my pregnancy. I didn't know there were so many people like us!
My 8 month old baby was diagnosed with complete heart block with I was 19 weeks pregnant with him. He started developing hydrops when I was 29 weeks pregnant (HR was only 30ish), so they took him by emergency c-section. He lived in the NICU at a children's hospital for the first 4 months of his life. He could get his pacemaker until he was big enough so for 3 months he was externally paced, then got his pacemaker and still took a month to get better from that.
He's doing really well now, we are still on oxygen, but hopefully can move off of that in upcoming months! You can read our story on my blog! lizzylyn.blogspot.com.
Any advice or words of wisdom appreciated.

You will find that he will just grow up accepting it, something that has been there since birth is just a part of you. I'm also a complete heart block person, I'm just organising my 60th birthday bash (gonna be a big one)! I dance, go to the gym, swim. party, fly all over the worls and am thoroughly enjoying life. As a mum who had a baby with a problem, (her hips) I know the temptation to wrap up our children in cotton wool - difficult not to do this, but remember pacemakers are very very robust!!

My daughter is 4 years old. We knew that she ha a heart block since I was 26weeks pregnant, they are thinking of implanting a pacemaker now as her heart rate continued to decrease. I really can understand you as it is very heard, to be pregnant knowing that your child have problems.
It is also heard for us now as we really know nothing of the outcome after this implantation. We'll appreciate advice and encouraging words.
Thank you

My story is similar to yours, but that was 30 yearas ago and my strong, handsome son is on his 10th PM. I thank God for pacemakers that make normal lives possible for children such as ours.
You know you're wired when...
Your pacemaker receives radio frequencies.

What a difficult time you have had with your wee boy, so glad he is improving. I hope things go smoothly from now on and you can enjoy being Mum.
Best wishes Jane
