Hi to everyone
Few weeks ago i took an heart control because i felt my heart beat different from usual I was told that I have congenital heart block 2to1 , second degre i guess, I'm not sure,
My heart beat goes from 33 min to 50 max , the blood presure is 8 to 14, my heart structure is normal as I'm told
I am 29 years old, I never get Ill , I never have head ache or a problem at all.I've lived a life full of hardwork, i have done heavy jobs, i have traveled 2 hours at day for 9 years with my bycicle
school home , home school, i never had any problem , ..... but I was told I should place to my body a PEACEMAKER
Few months ago , i got engaged , so things got very complicated for me,,,,
I was worried , confused, scared.
If i was born like this and i had live a life more than normal why should i be frighten and have a pacemaker?
by the other side all doctors i have meet all of them put their hoppes on pacemaker, some of them told me
it is not an emergency tu put it right now but in the end i had to..... my fiancee wanted too . a member of the pacemakerclub ( Blake " whom i say thanks a lot for helping me) he too adviced me to have it
.. so i did my homework:
.. I was born with a heart that works different from normals but the doctors couldn't enssure me a healthy life and the only way was to have the pacemaker, my fiancee and all my friends were worried , i was scared ...
as a result at 06.12.2012 i got my first pacemaker { VERITY (TM) ADx XL DR 5356 Bipolar - St.Jude Medical }
the operation was fast and clean, in 4 days i was able to go at work,,,,,
... i thought my worries has gone but I was wrong , now i'm more scared than before
will the batery last at least 7 years,,,,,
if the battery goes down will i have time to replace them without having any problem
my old heart system, will it be recover if my pacemaker goes off......
things like this are making me nervous,,,,,,
........
any advice will help
Thnx.......

ah jackie craythorne ,,, if it would help... i did have my surgery a week ago,,, after i got home ,,, i felt very cold and my body was shaking.... it is repeated every time i change places with defferent temperature.... i guess it is smth with our body and there is nth to do with our PM...
.. as i am new to the thing . i'll sugest to avoid temperature changing ... and to stay at places that have a normal temperature,,, cause as you know blood itself can be afected by temperature,,,, try to make yourself confortable...wish you the best.....
A Very Happy Christmas to you all.

I live in England and it has been very cold. Yesterday I went out to do Christmas shopping. The cold made me feel rather odd and didn't feel right for the rest of the day, can anyone tell me if they have any problems with the cold weather. Thank you, I am new on here today and have had my Pacemaker for just one year. May I take this oppertunity to say A Very Happy Christmas to you all.

I had my PM with the idea that ,I have just to change the battery of my PM ... 7 - 10 years....and get to 60 years old with only 5 battery replacement,,,,,,
i see people here that have changed their PM 4 times within 8 years ...... does anyone has any idea about this...
I had my PM just to be sure i'll be fine , I didn't have problems for the moment, just my heart was beating 33/50 and i felt them strong , so I put my PM.....Thnx
You know you're wired when...
You invested in the Energizer battery company.

I had a pacemaker when I was 11. I never once thought I wasn't a 'normal kid' nor was I ever treated differently because of it. I could do everything all my friends were doing; I just happened to have a battery attached to my heart to help it work.
batteries

You'll get plenty of notice when the battery is getting low! And it has two modes when it's low, each one lasts about 3 months so you have a 6 month cushion. Replacements are super easy.
If the pm should stop working, which it will NOT, your heart will be like it was before you were paced.
Forget it's there and get on with your life!
It's not uncommon to be born with it but remain undiagnosed. When we are young our bodies compensate and we can get by without the pm and often be asymptomatic, only diagnosed if we happen to have an ekg when we are in block. I have the same thing and got my first pm at 27.
