Pacemaker feels loose inside

Hi ,

Went for my pacemaker check today, and everything looks good from what I am told. But, I went in there with a concerned question of why is it that when I lay down, the pacermaker doesn't fit in place as good. It seems to flip a little and its a weird feeling. I was told there's nothing to worry about and is normal. Also, it was mentioned to me how some people actually play with it and can flip it which ends up with a problem with the leads. I couldn't be it and never heard that. I was told when I had my pacemaker put in that it will sit in a pocket like muscle and not move. Has anyone out there ever experienced this or heard the same thing? Sounds strange to me.

Moving device

Since my lead revision, my device is closer to my skins surface. When I lay down, it does not stay in the same place, it shifts somewhat. Certain movements or exercises and it moves out of place too. I don't play with it, it just happens. It will move closer to my armpit from time to time and then it feels uncomfortable. I just live with it though. I think it is stitched in place but has some play in it, not sure though.

According to the Medtronics implant manual the device is supposed to be sutured to the underlying tissue to prevent movement or flipping. Some cardiologist's claim they have found it better to leave it floating, but I'm suspicious of plain old laziness.

I'm thin skinned and can get my fingers firmly around my pacer, but can't come anywhere near flipping it even with some firm pressure. My cardio told me during the implant that he was securing it to keep it in place.

Loose feeling pacemaker

Hi guys,

Thanks for the feedback on "Pacemaker feeling loose". It's nice too know there are other people who can relate on what it's like. I was told that I would "just have to live with it". Least I know pacer is fine and I'm grateful for that.

You know you're wired when...

You need to be re-booted each morning.

It may be the first time we've felt a normal heart rhythm in a long time, so of course it seems too fast and too strong.
