Hi, I'm 45 yrs. old and had a pacemaker put in three years ago. Due to having congestive heart failure a few times, and a long history of heart issues, my Cardiologist thought it was best. Since then I find my pacemaker shift a bit, not as in place when I had it first done. Looking for anyone's experience and or thoughts on this. Thanks tammy101

pm shifting

Thanks Alma Annie for your info. Mostly it shifts when I lie on my side at night. Feels quite odd and questioned it to my cardiologist. He says its alright but I say "only someone really knows who has one" . Guess the main thing is that it will work if in need. Thanks again. tammy101

I have had my pacer since 2005. At first it ruled my life. It took some time to calm down and make the mental adjustment. I had trouble sleeping and I worried a lot about pulling wires. Now I just live my life as I wish.
pm shifting

Hi Tammy,
I had mine inserted June 2011. It turned 90 degrees after 6 weeks, due, I think to the way I was sleeping. (I am quite thin and I don't think there is enough flesh to stop it moving) EP raised his eyebrows and asked what I had done. Nothing I replied. He said it would not affect how it works. About 6 months ago I had a mammogram which was a modern machine supposed not to cause so much discomfort. When I had the side of left breast done, pm got pushed hard over to the left. It hurt and I yelled out. Since then the wires are now under my arm, its uncomfortable and the pm has definitely shifted further to the left. EP says not to worry but when battery needs replacing he will put it under a muscle.
So yes it can shift but will not stop it working. I am 100% paced in atrium, so it would be an issue if it did not work.
Hope this helps.
