What Don said! They aren't going anywhere at this point.
I have come home with a nasty cold/cough after every single surgery! No worse place to catch germs than a hospital.
Have you tried a vaporizer? Works better for me than cough medicine.
Not to Worry

Kimbo: you worry needlessly. At this point, those leads are so firmly settled in that they would have to be grabbed by a gorilla & yanked out & would probably rip the wall of your heart out with them.
Look at your scar on your chest - see how well after 7 weeks it has healed? Your heart is probably just as well healed at this point.
I've told this story several times - I stopped a Jeep Cherokee (like a Land Rover) w/ my right shoulder 9 weeks post-op. Got a broken collar bone, somewhere between 8 & 12 broken ribs; collapsed lung, lacerated liver & bruised kidney. Three weeks after the accident, they found that my heart was nearly ripped from its moorings in the impact & I had a small aortic aneurysm from it.
BUT>>>My leads were not affected at all. That is a far worse stress on leads than coughing.
So, relax, you have nothing to fear about the leads at this point.

I'm 35 and got my pacemaker a little over a year ago. It definitely is not a burden to me. In fact, I have more energy (which my husband enjoys), can do more things with my kids and have weight because of having the energy.

You could have a fractured rib. I had a virus that was going around which made me cough and sneeze off and on all winter that caused me a fractured rib. Very very very painful when I sneeze and cough.
