I did the same thing with pacemaker 1# and 2#. Its ok, you will be fine. I asked the same question on the board when I did it. Its ok to panic, its normal, you just want to be safe ! I still have alittle discomfort when lifting light weights and stretching, do not have alot of fat in that area. Its been 2 years. Take care !!! You are ok.

In the same boat

Hi,

My first PM was implanted 3 weeks ago yesterday. As my wound is healing I have caught myself lifting my left arm to do things on several occasions. It's only usually the slight residual pain and tightness that reminded me to quickly lower my hand.

However, I did a bit of research and found this interesting article that basically concludes that the no lifting rule is overly restrictive, potentially causing more problems than it allegedly prevents.

Since I read that I have been a bit less panicky about it. (Still a nag at back of my mind however).

I will forgo the press/chinups until my 6 weeks is up. I will also continue to beg off emptying the rubbish on the grounds that it weighs over 10 pounds ;-)

We all do that, it's no big deal.

Realistically, if we are going to dislodge a lead from movement, it will be in the first 48 hours. Anything after that is just precaution.

leads

Hi, I had mine put in Jan13th and came out of hospital with a bad cough which went on for a month. I was convinced my leads had come loose and worried. No need, at my firs tech visit all was well. Apparantly they put in enough slack to allow for normal arm movements. I did have a pillow down my left side which helped keep my arm captive when asleep.

don't panic

Why worry about it---I tied a string around my wrist and tied that to my shorts. Worked very well. My arm stayed where it belonged.

thanks

thanks for the replys think iv just come paranoid over these leads moving more so as they took some postioning in the first place to get the result the cardio wanted and i must say heart wise im sooooooooooo much better early days though i suppose but so far so good still get the odd bumps and jumps but no pauses and no long runs of ectopics which used to floor me if they ran on and off all day.

My husband is scared that I will pull out the leads....so he made me a harness...a scarf ties to my wrist and waistband so that I cannot lift the arm above my shoulder yet...(the sling makes for a sore arm!).....maybe you could do the same...it relieves the mind a bit.

You know you're wired when...

You need to be re-booted each morning.

My pacemaker was installed in 1998 and I have not felt better. The mental part is the toughest.
