Hello to you all. I’m a new member from the UK and I had my pacemaker fitted 7 days ago due to several collapses. I’m due for my 10 day check up this coming Monday and just wanted to come on and say hello.
I’m 42 years of age and up until 6 months ago thought I was fit and healthy. Is it usual to have weird feelings about this pacemaker inside your body? Any help would be appreciated.
Regards
Stewart

Welcome to the club ! There are loads of people from the UK on here all with PMs .... you're nobody nowadays if you don't have one ! ( I live in Bucks by the way)
You may sail through the whole PM experience without any problems or queries; many people do; BUT if you do have problems this forum has some very knowledgeable and helpful people .
Best of luck for your checkup

Stewart...welcome to the Brit Pack !! Tattoo Man here from sunny Newark-on-Trent.
It sounds like you have had your own personal 'Battle of Hastings '...good to hear that you are on the road to recovery.
As the other Brit Pack guys have said ..there will always be someone here to answer your questions and reassure you if you are worried about anything.

I'm in NY but I had alot of weird feelings. I'm six mo with this pm and most of the weird feelings have left me. I feel fine...sometimes I even forget that the pm is there. Hang in. It takes some time to get used to it. That's the body and soul.
welcome!

I'm a Brit too, ex North-west Londoner, but an expat one, living in the US, so while I can't comment on NHS procedures for PMs, because I had mine done here in the US, I can certainly sympathise.
I understand the 'weird' feeling too: I got my first PM at the same age as you, 42, having thought I was fit and healthy until about a year beforehand. Yes, initially you sit there thinking "Huh? What just happened to me?" but over time you really do get so used to having it that you hardly think about it anymore.
The guys are right: this is a great place to ask questions, look for insight, have a laugh with people who understand, so welcome to the Club, and feel free to start asking questions - wishing you a speedy recovery.
