Hello. I'm new to the site and new to having a pacemaker. I had mine implanted on Monday and have been home recovering. It's going to be a long 8 weeks until I can be active again. In the meantime, I look forward to browsing this site and learning more about everything.

Thanks. I feel pretty good considering everything going on. I'm just happy to be alive after learning my heart flatlined for 14 seconds last Friday during the tilt table test.
It's a little ironic that my pacer was implanted on Columbus Day because I'll be discovering a whole new life.

Welcome:)

Don't take it too easy

There's really no reason to be inactive for 8 weeks. Just avoid raising the pacer side arm above shoulder level and maybe go easy on lifting heavy stuff. I was out running around the desert in my 4wd in about a week. I started taking walks the next day after the implant. It's really just a matter of comfort.

It's important to keep some amount of activity in your shoulders. We've had several people who developed frozen shoulder syndrome from inactivity.

Of course if you need an excuse to be lazy we will back you up. (:

I have been active.

I guess I should be more specific. I like to play basketball and cycle. I did go for a long walk around the neighborhood this evening, which was my first time out of the front yard. I just can't play ball for a long while.

My boss basically ordered me to not do any work, even though I've been receiving requests from others.
I also just moved into this house at the beginning of the month. So I still have things to finish around here, but I can easily become lazy for an afternoon.

You know you're wired when...

Jerry & The Pacemakers is your favorite band.
