New!

Hi

I’m new to the site and just wanted to say hello.  I’ve had a pacemaker since I was 11 and I’m now 37. I feel grateful for the fact that I’m alive and try to enjoy it as much as possible!

I had very serious complications in 2008 when the wires were changed, but apart from that my pacemakers over the years have helped me live a very full and active life.  I love sports of all types and go to the gym, play football, and go on snowboarding holidays.  At the moment I’m training to be a paragliding pilot! I have a 3 year old daughter Lucy who brings me so much joy.

It’s hard to belive that if I was born 20 year earlier that PMs would not have existed! Before then, the oldest person with my condition lived to 16!!!! I’m thankful for every day.

.......this Forum encompasses the full, and fabulous spectrum that people with Pacemakers experience.

Sometimes it can seem to those new to the world of PM , is that, all that they have previously enjoyed and felt excellent about, has come to an end.

Your story is inspiring to all who understand the world of PM ...but,I reckon that from those who have had crappy experiences to those who,..like you..have had the best of the best..there may be a misunderstanding.

Justin..I am so pleased that you are still with us...( as in Not Dead )

A huge 'big up' to Don Semple...'Comrades Man' and also to SEANCROM ...'Ultrarunner'

NO..you do not have to run,..or indeed do anything athletic

Keep on giving PM Club the wonderful , inspiring input.

I know little about how people think / feel....but I have a hunch that the majority like to be associated with GOOD NEWS

PM Club deals with a huge disparity of issues..all real to those individuals.

Might I quote a pair of true philosophers..:

Bill and Ted...:

"Be most excellent ,,Dude "

But...is it not fantastic to know that there are those

Thanks for your insipiring words I'm like you and celebrate my device each day. I've had some rough times since first being paced in 1978, but overall I'm very thankful to be able to enjoy a great quality of life.

Thank you Justin...I'm new on the site as well. My PM is only 6 months old and yet as I approach my 62nd birthday in a few days I realize I would likely not be having it if it were not for the PM....thankful for every day, indeed.

Thanks

I had no idea that my life story was so inspiring! I feel very "normal". Most of the time I don't feel any diffrent to anyone else. Your feed back makes me feel even more greatful, I only joined the site as I thought my knowledge of the subject may be useful to others.

Thank you
Justin

Hey Justin I'm so glad you've are doing great. Wanted to ask you about paragliding; I'm planing for my bday to try it, and I was just wondering if you ever felt anything abnormal with your pacemaker while doing it. I have a Defibrillator since 2008. I love any ride that has to do with heights. Any advise.
Thanks,
Didy

I have a well tuned pacer. I hardly know I have it. I am 76 year old, hike and camp alone in the desert. I have more energy than I have had in a long time. The only problem is my wife wants to have a knob installed so she can turn the pacer down.
