Pulsating

Hi everyone in PM land. Hopefully everyone is feeling well and adjusting to a new lifestyle. I have a question, does anyone ever feel a pulsating sensation at their pacemaker site? This doesn't happen all the time, just sometimes I feel this at the site, kind of a freaky feeling.

Pulsating

Thank you Theknotguy for all of the information, it is helpful. PM is placed just under the skin. Have you noticed any swelling of your arm on the side of your PM? I had an ultra sound done and it was negative for a clot. PM was inserted 2 yrs. ago.

Could be several reasons

Sometimes the placement of the PM plus the idiosyncrasies of the person's body can cause strange feelings.

Right after my implant, I'd have pulsing going up into my left jaw. The only thing I could think was between the placement of the leads plus the swelling in my body from the trauma I received caused the nerves to be pinched and the pain/pulsing going up into my jaw. It went away as swelling went down.

You didn't indicate if your PM was placed under the skin or placed deeper as you are (according to your bio) active athletically. Deeper placement of the PM plus fluctuations in you body due to hydration or lack of hydration may mean that you'll sometimes get a feedback from the beating of your heart. You feel it as a pulsing.

Or, if you're like me, sometimes I have a harder heartbeat due to increased adrenaline in your bloodstream. Increased adrenaline can be caused by any number of reasons.

Worst case scenario, your heart problems have moved onto a new stage and you're feeling a new problem (such as afib).

Some people have more nerve endings in their circulatory system - I'm one of them - and can feel more things than others. You could be one of those people too.

If you're feeling good, still able to participate in athletics, and carry on a normal lifestyle I wouldn't really be worried. Mention it to your EP or cardiologist at your next appointment. If something is wrong they can sometimes spot it on your EKG. But I'm guessing they will just chalk it up to having a foreign object in your body and go on from there.

And, of course, if it's happening all the time where you haven't felt it before, I'd get it checked out.

In the meantime I hope you are able to carry on your active athletic lifestyle.
