flying

Had the PM inserted in Dec. and we are flying to Jamaica for a much needed holiday and to visit friends but I am concerned about the metal detecter. What should I do?

metal detector

Don't go through the metal detector. Just tell them you have a pm when you give them your id and they'll send you for a pat down. No big deal! I've done it more times than I can count.

They usually know better at the airports, but don't let them use a wand on you above the waist. It's the same technology as the metal detectors but stronger. I've really only run into that at federal buildings and courthouses, airports are better trained and just do a pat down instead.

I want thru 3 airports last year

(Anchorage, Seattle & Sacramento) & all had a scanner that is called a "scatter back" scanner I think. Just does a
picture outline (not naked image) that I saw & I am 100% paced & no affect on me. Only that I didn't need to be patted down like I have for last 10 yrs,

Hope that helps,

Janet

I agree

No matter what the agents say, don't go through the detector. I have a note from my Dr., because I was given a hard time about how safe the detectors are. I'm sure some of them are, but why take a chance. Enjoy Jamaica!

Wish I were going again!

I was in Jamaica just before Christmas and it was beautiful! You are going to have a wonderful time. Avoid the metal detector and the "Wand". Have your medical card and ID ready and say yes to the pat down. The pat down aren't as bad as one would think, or maybe I am just so used to them that I just don't seem to mind anymore. I just smile, assume the position with my arms out and listen to the security guards instructions. I never make light of the pat down and follow the guards cues.

You will be fine, have a wonderful time and relax... it's Jamaica!

You know you're wired when...

You are always wired and full of energy.
