I have not heard of that and I have had a pacemaker for a very long time. I hope so though.

Muscle better?

Didn't think that muscle had anything to do w/ PM requirements.

PM fixes electrical issues in the control system.

How about some more detail on what exactly you mean.

It sounds like the CRT-D was the right choice for you. It's the only device that will help myopathy and LV function. Nothing is impossible, but it's not likely you are going to reach a point you don't need the pm. This is a condition that is managed, not generally cured.

ejection fraction?

Sounds like your ejection fraction has dropped? If that is the case, are you getting a 3-lead pacemaker? A regular 2-lead will only synchronize atria and ventricles. A 3-lead synchronizes the ventricles which can help ejection fraction. Assuming it gets better with the pacemaker, you would not want to remove the pacemaker later because it would just get worse again.

There are a very few people who eventually no longer need the pacemaker. They can be removed but it's better to leave it alone and simply turn it off. That way it's there if you happen to need it again. If you went a few years and still did not need it, you could always have it removed later.

Pm

Thank you Tracey my pm is CRTD and as you mention it has 3 leads. Dr told me it is better to implant this one as for your safety although I wasn't that bad.I have sever dilated cardiomyopathy and LV systolic function. This is the summary of my case and my age is 45. thank you all for your concerns I really want to know if it's possible that one day I can live without pm.
