Cardiac rehab?.

I am a little over a month out now. I hear about people having so much energy after receiving their implant. I seem to get pretty tired, but in fairness I'm sure I'm pretty deconditioned. Is there any kind of cardiac rehab prescribed typically. I didn't think I was all that fatigued before implantation . I had general anesthesia if that makes a difference. Site is still red and a little tender is that par for the course generally speaking? Thanks.

Rehab is not normally prescribed for a pm, but it's not unheard of. Check with your dr to make sure nothing else is going on and it's ok to exert, then start with a small walk and see how you do.

It's possible the settings need to be adjusted so you have more stamina. Something my dr did was put me on a treadmill while hooked up to the pm computer so he could see what my heart did on exertion. That cut out a lot of trial and error on the settings adjustments.

Are you on any meds? They can make you tired the first weeks. The anesthesia should have been out of your system weeks ago. 3 of my 4 were done under general.

When you are deconditioned it takes a lot of time and patience to get it back. I've gone from up to a year of no activity due to various problems back to full activity 3 times now, each on my own. My heart worked fine I was just severely out of shape, so I didn't feel the need to do it under supervision. I started with walks, gradually made them longer, added in some spurts of running and wrist/ankle weights. I took classes at the gym that were easy to modify and simplify then work up to what everyone else was doing, spoke with the instructor in advance. That worked for me. It's up to you if you feel you need to structure and supervision of something more formal. Whatever you choose to do, just do it! It's not easy the first weeks but it's SO worth it.

I just had this miracle implanted two weeks ago and I’m feeling better.
