Just wanted to let you all in on a little hint that might help with your arrhythmias. I have had electrical problems since the early 1990ÃÂs. I was just the ninth person to have the Maze procedure at the Cleveland Clinic in 1991. I was supposed to be the fifth but the doctor got the Flu and I was postponed. IÃÂve also had four ablations, one taking 9 ý hours.
Have been lucky in that the doctor has been able to keep me of medications most of the time. Over the years IÃÂve been cardioverted well over 30 times. I noticed that several times when I went it to get cardioverted they gave me Magnesium to try to settle my heart down. I began to think about why. Then a guy in our office who has been taking it and I had a little talk. By the way he also likes to go out on FridayÃÂs and have a few drinks. He said since heÃÂs been taking it he hasnÃÂt had any more Afib attacks even on Saturday mornings. I asked my doc at the CC about it and he just said that some doctors swear by it and some donÃÂt.
Well I guess a lot of us can have a Magnesium shortage. So IÃÂve started taking it. I had to get cardioverted in March and August of last year and got my PM in August. However they said that the PM would not necessarily stop my Afib attacks. But since IÃÂve been taking the Magnesium I have not had another attack. Just thought you might want to take a look at this. IÃÂm taking 450mg a day. The guy in our office is taking 250mg a day.
HereÃÂs a reference you might want to copy, put in your search box and take a look:

I suppose a good healthy diet gives you enough magnesium from green vegetables, nuts etc but we all need to be aware that certain drugs can lead to magnesium deficiencies ... diuretics which are commonly used as part of Blood Pressure regimes and proton pump inhibitors e.g. omeprazole( used for some gastric problems) can both cause your magnesium levels to drop
If I go mad on the grape-juice I do sometimes fibrillate the next day ; maybe I will give magnesium a try.
Thanks Sue

My husband has the combo pacemaker and defib in 2years ago he had a cardiac arrest been in and out of hospital. He has Afib and tach he passes out when his defib goes off. They r talking about doing the ablation I am just concerned how dangerous this is and will it work. He is so excited about it and believes it is the answer and will fix him. I am not trying to be negative but want to know the risks and how well it works. He has lost his job of 25 years he is a carpenter.he can't drive anymore and I have taken a leave of absent from my job I am afraid to leave him alone he has passed out twice in 4days. Would really like some advise or just support on will our lives ever be semi normal again.the doc also wants him to start taking the magnesium he hasn't yet they said he has to have a blood test first. He has lost his insurance also.
I'd like to give it a try
