As a yoga teacher, I say that it's about time science caught up with what yogis have known for centuries. It's never been possible to harness the energy in the human body unless you practice meditation for years and years. Even then, it's only a select few that can achieve this state of consciousness. Now it looks like it may be possible for everyone in the near future! I love technology! Carol

Did you guys go to the link Carol posted?? It talks about harvesting energy from the body to power your pacemaker or other devices.
Yes, I'm sure...Harvard

Thank you Grateful Heart for being the voice of reason. I haven't made too many comments on this site but the ones I've made have been met with supportive, compassionate comments. Needless to say I was stunned to get such sarcastic, condescending remarks in my inbox from what I assume are adult males. It would seem pretty logical to read something before judging someone. Having said that, I appreciate and accept your apology Tattoo Man.

I was trying to figure that one out too!
Are you sure it wasn't Nirvana instead of Harvard?

Kate,my use name on this site is also male, so I shouldn't have assumed that you were.
I wasn't actually at Harvard, I was sitting in my living room in a regular state of mind. Definitely not a higher state, although that may have been preferable!
Anyway, I was reading the Wall Street Journal online, when I came across the article concerning research from Harvard University and MIT.
The article stated that they were researching and developing the ability to harness the energy of the human body to run devices such as pacemakers, hearing aids and insulin pumps. What this would mean is no more surgeries to replace batteries. I wanted to post this article because its such good news for members of the PM club. Well, at least for the young ones who may actually be able to benefit from it.
In yoga class, we teach practicing the focus of internal energy to power through the physically demanding postures. Believe me, this focus helps you to keep pushing when you want to give up and flop down on the floor. I am thrilled that western medicine is starting to incorporate some of these eastern concepts into their research. That was my point when I referenced the article in yogic terms. Hope that clears it up for you.
No hard feelings. We're all in this together!

Namaste Bikram,
I followed your thread you provided and I'm still trying to figure that one out, I was remiss in not mentioning that from the get go.
It sounded like you were in a higher state of mind instead of "Just back from Harvard", hence my referrance to Nirvana.
Signed,
Casper (Kate) I happen to be a female.
Hi Again

Namaste Carol,
I still can't wrap my head around that, it blows my mind.
I've practiced Tai Chi Chun for over 20 years and I'm familiar with the body's own energy. We call it
Chi, I like Tattoo Man meant no harm.
Tattoo Man is a great guy, I can assure you that he would never purposely be rude.
Take care,
Casper
